I'm going to sound completely hopeless asking this, but here it goes. Which hole do i put coolant in? Does it go into the plastic resevoir, or the other hole to the left of the engine?

no stupid questions - only stupid answers, however this is not one :)

You put the coolant in the plastic bottle. This is the 'overflow bottle', where as the engine heats up so does the coolant, which expands, it then goes into the bottle. When the raditor needs more coolant, it draws it from here too....

Hope this helps :)

BTW - at least you asked. I was at my mates work one day (Shell Autoserv) when two girls come in and ask for a funnel so they can top up their oil without spilling it. I gave then an adequate funnel to do the job, but they asked for a smaller one....why you ask? 'coz they were trying to top it up down the dip-stick pipe

LOL! my mate did the exact same thing... i couldn't believe it... when he was finished he goes inside to his dad. I don't know how mechanics can be so patient, it's taken me just over an hour to fill the oil up.

Thanx for that Trav. oh one more thing.. is there a specific type of coolant for the astina?

manual will have the recommended, but you need to buy the coolant based on the type driving you do (ie - do you go to the snow...do you live in high temperatures...do you live in melbourne where you need -20 to +50 protection....goto Burson's - the'll give you a hand to select...
