Well it could be over for our BA HT V6
Today approx 11:30am.
A Fool - doopy - stupid Idiot - ( I've removed left out my other bits of venting ot not offend anyone) P-plater F whit. I hate P-platers and don't care if you are one and good driver or think you are you all SUCK. (don't argue with me because I never had problem - why do you new lot have to be idiots )
This Drunken stupid idiot from Chipping Norton in my HOOD - - happened 4 blocks away in Belmore, flew across a roundabout into the front of the astina.
Astina was being driven by my parents when they coped it. Kid driver was lucky I didn't turn up - his drunken mates had to stop my old man from hitting him.
Bloody lucky idiot cops turned upI heard about it but dind't go down as I was just getting up. lucky for the kid his tattos would have been one colour.
anyway the once straight astina is now bent it does nto look bad at first glance but I can't help it if I say it's going to be stuffed. it's hard hit and the right hand side wheel too all the pain - now that leads to steering rack suspension - lower frame up frame etc.
I have to wait and I hope to get photo's ASAP. Once it gets to my personal panel beater it will be looked at but if it's wirrten off- I don't think another HT will be bought. but I might buy back the car for stripping and selling, off of bits like springs and shocks etc.
As much as I don't mind the astina, it was not great all round car.
At the moment this has haulted my own 626 J-spec wagon conversions and it's hurryed my mx-6 rebuild as well.
I'm pissed and I'm so pissed - any p-plater that does osmething stupid around my better watch out. especially if I'm driving one of my Wreaks.

That sucks really bad mate, feel sorry for you. I'm assuming nobody was hurt? Hope not anyway and also hope the Astina can be mended, or at least you can move onto something bigger and better. :(
Don't like the P-Plater bagging, but your obviously upset so it's all good.
Take it easy
That's so ****. Hope that P plater gets what he deserves and losses his license for a good amount of time...I am sick of seeing P plater speed past me when I am driving, and what sort of dumbarse speeds through a round about...
An old friend on mine did the same thing on his P's, ended up losing it around the round about and hit the gutter side on, ****ed everything up so bad the car couldnt move...he only lost a few points and went and bought a GTiR - great ey (sarcasm!)

Rod mate
I feel for you
I am glad nobody was actually injured badly
I know how you feel about the idiots Im just lucky it has been me behind the wheel at these moments and not the missus for she might not be around now
Whatever happens to the car and whatever you pursue in the future just remember you are always welcome here
Really sorry to hear that Rod :( Hope it all goes well and that you can get it all fixed up - or atleast come to a conclusion you are happy with.
Was any of it covered under insurance? Won't matter if it's written off though I guess :(

That sucks man. Feel really sorry for ya, I would hate for anything like that to happen to anyone. I kinda wish you were there, its only that way that the kid would've gotten what he deserves. Don't argue, lets be honest, we all know first hand revenge is the sweetest.
Hope all goes well for you buddy.

So sorry to hear about the accident, especially due to irresponsible idiots like that. Glad to hear your parents are ok though, ok enough to almost smash the guy.

*adds condolences*
I do understand about the frustration of p-platers however, don't judge a whole spectrum of people just because of a few d1ckheads.
P-plates are supposed to advise us road users that a novice is about, and that although they have passed the test to drive a car, they need experience on the road to establish good driving habits and a better understanding of sharing the roads with other drivers.
P-platers do have a tendancy to feel they are bullet proof. I know of certain young drivers that feel that they have been driving 2 or 3 years and think they know everything. I've been driving for more than 20 years and I still pick up new things and I have my fair share of near misses.
Anyone, p-plater or not, that thinks they know everything is a danger to themselves and others.
rodhog: You will always be a member of the AGT family. Owning an Astina is good start but it's not the only reason to be a part of this group of car enthusiasts. Like a regular family, once you're a part of it, you'll always be a part of it.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes please?

You were a P plater once...
Current license is not what makes the driver stupid. Unfair to brand all F idiots. He was drunk, he could've been 35 and drunk and still been a Fing drunken idoit.
I am very glad to hear that your parents are alright after this. Funny that your dad still had some fight left in him after being crunched into.

Sorry to hear about your car, and glad that everyone is ok.
But, I do not think the P-Plater bashing is fair, or even called for. What were the stats? 26% of all crashed involved a P plater last year in NSW? What were the other 74% "full license" drivers just simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? There's plenty of **** full license drivers around too, but when I see one speed past me, or pull out infront of me, do I say they all SUCK? No. Stop setting double standards. Stop grouping all P platers into one category.
</end rant>

ok, please understand that rodhog posted her his emotions and feelings.
he was angry and upset.
please don't let this get into a "who's better, p plater or not" arguement.
try to understand rodhog's perspective here please?
my post above states that anyone, p plater or not, can be a danger.
this isn't about who is better or not, it's about an unfortunate incident that has upset rodhog greatly. Not only is his beloved Astina smashed, but he could have lost his parents. How would any of us feel if our loved ones had an accident in our car?
please folks, don't see it purely as a p plater v's the rest of us thread coz it isn't, it's about one of us having his car ruined by inexperience and ignorance.
lets keep that in mind ok?
Thanks,
Kitty

just making a suggestion that not all P platers are like this.
i cannot see anywhere where anyone has argued who is better.
please read all post/s before posting.

It's true that not all are like that, and yes we all were once (i did a few silly things, but i can look back and admit that i'm glad i survived it). But it's hard not to look at groups as statistics, even for full licenced drivers i happen to think that p platers and more current drivers know the road rules the best because of the increased difficult of getting a licence over the last few years, but they still break them and take more risks - perhaps they don't have kids to think about or husbands or wives etc. Yet younger (who just happen to be p platers) succumb to increased peer pressure and a desire to impress with material things like cars, and skills like driving fast, hence why the government target them so broadly, because they are still a percentage and young people shouldn't be dying before their parents and causing deaths particularly of their friends (due to the driver being the most protected seat) and of course innocent strangers. Even on the news i overheard the idea of increasing driver age (which i doubt will ever happen), but seemingly it's the 'easiest' fix for the people 'up there'.

Wow, nicely summed up.
How do you clap with a keyboard.
Although, rodhog, I feel for you man. I understand your frustration (if one can call it that) I could see myself being well past frustration. Anyone would be pissed if they were in your shoes.

hey man i know how you feel, me and Dad were put in hospital beacuse of a F whit drunk driver, he T boned our sweet little datto into a power pole.......just be happy your parents are alright and remember though that it isnt always the P-platers...if it makes you happier i have never gotten behind the wheel under the influence...and ive been a p plater for 9 months....and you have to ask yourself why was a kid drunk at 11:30am.....some teenages are f whits.....

and you have to ask yourself why was a kid drunk at 11:30am.....some teenages are f whits.....agreed
firstly ... rodhog is justified in having a mad rant ... when my prelude was hit by a taxi, I had not one single generous thing to say about any taxi driver out there ... and I have half a dozen in my extended family
as for the other people mounting up ... remember this much ... before you start waving statistics of which age group has more accidents etc ... remember this ... there are lies, damned lies, and statistics
when we're younger, we drive faster and act dumber ... when people get older, the have their broods and can't pay attention because they are trying to ignore the 5 kids in the back screaming at the top of their lungs because they soiled themselves ... and once that age is past, your reactions are slowing, and your eyesight ain't as good ... after that you go and get your pensioner's insurance and drive around in the giant fairlane at 20 under the speed limit bitching about the P platers
in life it takes all sorts and in each variety there are always poor examples of the species ... the only category you have to worry about are the idiots and spanners ... nuff said

everyone has summed it up pretty well. there are s**t house drivers in every age group. people tend to notice p platers more BECAUSE of the p plates.
we've all done something dumb before, don't just blame p platers. on the other hand hes a f**king idiot for speeding around a roundabout whilst drunk. hell, hes just an idiot. just be glad no one got seriously hurt.

Thanks For the Support guys
Oh and Thanks To Rupewrecht & boosted batman and other friendly members like Skizs - I'll never leave LOL
First off I'm sorry to those P-platers, but I did write similar on mx6.com got a similar response but Won't make it worse here. Or try not too, it's not personal just my anger, I'm getting old. yet I look as young as a p-plater.
Put it in the way I see it for your interestate people as I don't know if you know but in NSW
Even as P-plater you have ZERO limit meaning No driving period. not .o2 or .o5 just plain ZERO.
ontop of that recent changes again in july meant - you Had to display them outside the.
This person was complete fool. My anger towards P-platers might be stero typical etc. I know I don't have perfect past but, having said that.
When I was not younger we were not targeted by both media and police.
Now As I said on another site If you drove as much as I did or do and oyu se how much or how bad both Sydney and P-platers are here you would understand. It's very very very bad. Traffic volumes don't allow you to weave in and out like many P-platers do or speed etc.
The whole incident is just crazy as it was 50km/h back street residential area and it's massive round about only way to hit the astina really was drive over it - which he did and push the poor Ba onto the island.
Now As I said basicly for you P-platers who think whatever, and other who say this and that. I would garrentee do my normal wekes driving which covers Evening peck and late night - after 12am. Add in friday night 12am and you would start to think. these two things
Sydney Drivers are Bad.
Sydney P-platers speed and driver like they are on drugs. Or basicly don't care.
Now do it in your pride and joy and if it survies - Congratulations.
Because untill you understand the issues in this city P-platers and opening the paper everyday and always something about another one. I know media beat up but 10 year ago it was one for 1 or 2 days not 5 to 6 months, that's not beat up - that's truth.
I go to TAFE to catch up and further my skills and I over hear these young males talking about all the stupid things. As if oh who cares if we kill someone.
I can't stand that attitude like it's not my fault. I'm at my age and saying this stuff but ten years ago it was not like this.
On the brighter note. At least if it's repaired I will remove the silly black strips - I think. Or I guess SP20 could be on the cards, maybe ?

nah I'm happy enough to remove them if I can it's funny. They do and don't work - they do if it 's the mazdas' door opening but due to the shape of the car they don't protect it.
oh and as for the Pokies - yeah bastards Got me again tonight. lucky I left early.

glad its repairable man. If your thinking sp20, wish you the best of luck, however a BA in my opinion is just as cool, then again i am bias.
Just for the record I don't think anyone would have taken offence to the stereotype, Mate you were angry and had every right to be.
Besides stereotypes don't generate themselves, there is always material evidence behind their existance. however there are always exceptions. Not every P-plates is a dick and not every old person is safe.
Its interesting how experience does change your perspective and attitude. I remember thinking that I knew almost everything there was to know about driving but never actually believed it. And 3 years down the track i have learnt so much more than I could've possibly imagined at the time when i first got my lisence.
BTW im no longer a P-plater the avatvar is about 6 months old, needs replacing.

Well an update
RIP- 95 MAZDA BA Polar white HARTOP KF V6 Auto.
Amazingly NRMA thought it only worth around $7K - so it's Written off due to $7890 damage in repair. I got a couple of photo's - problem is it's all under neath except for the wheel but I missed that shot Was in a rush.
So now it's time to find a new car. Or buy a new one.
it's going to have to be full family choice this time. Last time the Ba was my choice because it came up as good buy and it was an interum car which has served it's purpose but we were hoping to keep it.
I'm very very very very very Dispointed. Amazingly it was not a automatic attachment to the car. It took some time but I think it was more to do with the fact in the end it was modded to my familys habits and well hmm. I think to put it simply my father's quote = " you could have a tailgater behind you and not touch the brakes and just go into the corner and see the car behind you understeer across into the other lane. " that from a 64 year old, who hated the low roof line and lack of bottom end.
Some would say it's the money or the bits sitting in the garage or on the way from Japan that may or may not get used etc etc. But it's not it's the fact that we had a love hate relationship with it that all it's bad points somehow were over come by it's good looks and ability to just do the job.
Unlike our other cars that have done the jobs with no fuss. Never a complaint.
Where I would not be happy with overload of vinal on the trim I was because it could get wet or spill things on it and wipe it off. All my other cars are so much more - you don't eat in them.
In alot of ways this will sound funny but it's like that Girl you dated at first because it looked good and she showed you a good time but over time you found these Faults - these short comings - be it like Not smart or Not bright or a little anoying but you put up with it. Not because the outside package looked good but because it tryed. Funny that
No I'm Really REALLY sad, The anger I had, is now just waiting for the next - idiot to pull it out of me.
Expect me in Jail if I get My Mx-6 back which I've had to rush the drivetrain swap rebuild job on. If anything happens to that well, I just hope for there sake they are fully coverd.
I'll probelry find things around my place that belong to it over next few months so they will be put up.
I haven't rulled out buying another and buying my wreak back but I don't think it's on the cards it's all a bit painfull.

that sux man. it really does. especially at the hands of somone else.
all of us can say at one point or another we have been both physically and emotionally attached to a particular ride we once had. with all the days, hours, money and labour spent on it. whether it be to improve the way it looks, the it sounds or the way it drives. to make it unique. to make it yours. because of this relationship built, it is even more painfull when it's suddenly taken from you. it's not the car. the car can easily be replaced. it's the hours and money spent that can never be replaced.
although you can never get the time back, you can't chuck in the passion that the astina ignites in people.
you have a whole community of like minded people here behind you.

some people don't like me putting Passion into them. LOL Some do they love it.
NAh I'm kind of happy now I'm thinking of all the possibilites of what car etc but I don't think it will be rushed by either this time.
I personally like or want something big and luxury but others want this and that. All I know is who ever buys it will get straight panels - go for a mint at auction
