Anything from hard rock to R&B and very selective rap.

R&B has to have a nice flow and good beat to it. Rock I like anything from SOAD, Metallica, Guns and Roses through to the current stuff like the Foo Fighters, Offspring to even the Chilli Peppers.

By now you get the picture, Im not all that picky. Like most music

I grew up listening to a lot of music and therefore I have developed a love of all music as music - in a more literal sense than when other people say "I like all music" and really they just mean anything that rock/rap/dance or on mainstream radio.

But I'm a sucker for anything with a percussive rhythm or grooving bass.

Day to day I listen to a wide range of genres; funk, indigenous & world ( esp african and latin american ) , trance, techno, folk, rap, r&b, reggae, opera, classical, heavy metal, alternative, chillout, pop, dance etc . Anything from old to new and its usually on random across everything.

I tend to get bored of a genre or band if I don't skip around, but every now and then I get hooked on something and go through a phase. This years I've been through a few phases from memory ; Marylin Mansun, African drumming, Frank Sinatra, Infected Mushroom, Jimmy Hendrix, Afro-Cuban All stars, Ice cube & 2Pac, Bob Marley, Rammstein, Curtis Mayfield, Erykah Badu, Xavier Rudd, and a Wagner /Tchaikovsky period . The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been a long favorite since the late 80s

But like I said its usually just on random across ~ 10,000 tracks

As for rhythm I like a good beat, it is addictive, but slightly off topic, does anyone have friends who are drumbers. They must be serously addicted to beats coz they will tapp anything using anything. They tapp on plates with spoons, they tapp on desks with pencils etc constantly to some sort of a drum beat.

Is it just me or is it something that anyone else has noticed?

Yep thats me

I used to play drums and have collected a few over the years, full drum kit, bongos, large african drum I can't remember the name of and I had a pair of Tabla sent back home when I was in India.

I drum all day - especially in the lift at work and on the steering wheel in the car
