hey 2day i was walkin from the office to the train and i walked past this laser tx3 coupe. it seemed nothin special from the back, just a nice exhaust, then i noticed the plates- "210KW"!! i was shocked.
so i walked around the front of the car and saw this nice lookin intercooler sittin out of the front bar!!! the car looked real real nice.
im not sure if its the awd version or what, and im assumin that its got 210kw at the flywheel, not actually at the treads, but it was a real fine lokin car.
im assumin also that its the familia engine, not just a highly moded version of the orig engine.
i would have loved 2 talk 2 the owner, but he/she was nowhere 2 be seen. *dam*
anyone else seen this car??[/color:post_uid0]

you might wanna wander over to www.fordlaser.com and have a look~see at their forums (which is where I'm from :;): ).
I would speculate that the "210kw" would be @wheels, coz the engine with the highest factory output that would (easily) fit into a laser would be the bpd from a familia gtr with 156-164kw depending on who you talk to. If the engine was modified enough to see 210kw (either at the fly or the wheels), then it would probably be dynod (rather than guestimating hp) and if it were dynoed, then they'd probably run the whp figure. Also, the KF(1990/91+) tx3 (coz you describe it being a 'coupe' not a hatch) came standard with a slightly detuned version of the same BP turbo engine which is fitted to the BG gtx. So it could very well be a worked (or swapped+worked) version of that engine. From what I hear, it's not overly hard to get that kind of power out of those engines (intake + intercooler + exhaust + more boost/bigger turbo). The tricky thing is to try and make the 4wd tranny last...hehe.
Ahh....my only problem with those plates...What happens when you up the power?? Do you get new plates (and do you get them for each increase?!?!?!?!)...pft I'd prefer my stockie plates...not as easy to remember, plus cheaper...hehe[/color:post_uid0]

Its the same with the guys who have plates like DUZ-10S
etc. Not like they're satisfied with 10's sure they are still
working on going faster so what then. 210kw at the wheels
is a lot. Thats like 300hp at the wheels or taking a 60%
drivetrain loss for 4wd thats about 420hp at the flywheel.
Not impossible as I have heard of many BP's in the 400-450hp
but it does take a lot of building and $$$.
Not knowing the car hard to say but 210kw at the flywheel
is a more likely figure.
