Hi All

I have just had my front brake pads replaced and when I brake and the car is at a low speed the left wheel/brake makes a croaking sound

Does anyone one what this his, I thought it was the brakes "bedding in" but it has been doing this for about 3 weeks now

Cheers
Keeran

I know stuff all about the brakes, but it sounds like the Mazda myth. I think a lot of people on here has this problem and their brakes "clunk" after a while, it has something to do with some worn pins or something.

*waits for somebody more mechanically minded to comment*

Or you could take it back to the mechanic who did the pads and tel him he broke something!

PS, where abouts in NZ are you from?

Isnt Croaking what frogs do  Maybe you should look for a family of illegal immigrant frogs inside your front left hand guard

I will get the mechanic who put them in to have a look at the wheel.

I am living in Auckland, only been here about 2 1/2 years, born and bred in Wellington - go the Lions

Nice timing on the post - my RHS did precicley the same under heavy braking last night!

Is there anyway to fix it, or is it not worth worrying about?

i think its just a mazda fault cause alot of us seem to have this problem,
i changed my pins and regreased them it help but its still there, also i have worn cv joints to so im gunna replace them and do my bearings aswell and see if that gets rid of it ill tell you the result when i do it

so long as it isn't dangerious then i'm happy to live with it... I'll just add it to the list of strange rattles / noises that my car makes

I took it back to the Mazda dealer where I get my car serviced and they said it was the caliper slides, the ordered some in but they were the wrong size, which was kinda lucky as the slides were $160 each for two slides for one wheel.
So they stripped the slides and regreased them which cost $120 for labour.

Has this fixed it? (And i presume we are talking $NZ here?)

There is no more noise so I assume they fixed the problem and the cost is in NZ$
