200HP at the flywheel isnt that much for a so called race engine dude, that means being in a RWD it would be 160BHP@ wheels)
Mine was dynoed at 120BHP @ the wheels(which would make it 142HP @ Flywheel) with an catback exhaust, aftermarket sparkies, pod filter, premium unleaded, and no internal mods :P
So that would make mine only 40BHP less than the race motor, doesnt sound right, maybe that figure you quoted was at the wheels or something

Yeah i was waiting for the bull**** comments to arise  Well i was scepticle of these figures myself,i must say though this figure was done in 3rd gear @6500RPM,im pretty sure it should be done in forth, which could account for the reading :P
Yous dont have much faith in some1 elses car do ya,Tony i seem to remember you saying id be lucky to get under a 16.7 quarter mile on the g-tec,well i eventually run a 15.9 and no it wasnt down hill,it was slightly uphill,so what i cant work out is why people judge others motors from what theres does, which is bull**** cause every1's engines are diff  Some are freaks and some are duds, just remember that,b4 you start calling me a bull**** artist
Well gtec is all hearsay unless you can put up some graphs.... best thing to do is get eveyone done to the dyno and 1/4 mile and get some times done on a standardised platform then no one can argue. Its just sounds a little unrealistic from a motor with exhaust, filter and sparkies to pull almost 50% more power.
As I said to you, believe it when I see it. :)

1. I thought you would be using your chromies to do runs.. not putting the stockies on. Do a run with 18's, full interior and stereo... That would be interesting
2. Never called you a bull**** artist... Just saying the dyno run you did was bull****... Even you said it seemed weird
3. If you got an issue get a tissue. Snap out of it and stop being a bloody woman
Well I don't know about everyone else but I'm sure waiting for KittyKat to make a response to that last comment by Tony!
** standing back, waiting for the claws to start flying **
I think an Astina Dyno and 1/4 mile day is an awesome idea!

Gives us all a comparitive reading between all of us.
The power difference between the BG, BA and BJ models
and if its stock, modified and turbo.
It would give a good guide for everyone who are looking at mods.

Hmmmm woman comment........
I think comparing Toyboy to a woman is just not right....
he would make an ugly woman
And I have called Toyboy worse than a bull**** artist
And Toyboy, stop stirring, coz you know you are...
nawty boy, or I'll smack yer bum too!
And Tony, don't call boys women please, call em a blouse, a skirt, tell em to dry their eyes, but woman is a compliment!

All I'm going to say is that running on a dyno is not going to give accurate results thanks to all the crappiness in the driveline of anycar.
If you must know engine output then you gotta do the hard yards on an engine dyno. Failing that the "Hub drive" Dynos are better... At least you gett eh wheel interia and hub/axle interia sorted out of it.
I dunno though the last two cars I've had ran very high 14s" (14.8/14.9)on street rubber (although the Chrysler could only do a G-teched 15.3 witht he 16" TSWs). Apply the usual margins of error for the measuring devices and reality is probably low-mid 15's
At the end of the day though a cross comparison is good. I'll go off and dig up a dyno chart for day where a lot of Mitsu owners went... the variation between stock motors was huge (20%+)
Edit to insert pic ;) It's not the exact one I was looking for - but you can already see 10% variation in stock cars...

can i have some jelly beans too kitty some of the good ones :D
also guys i just thought id add that this thread was for a "race engine" that is for sale, not about 1/4 time or dyno figures, i also agree that a dyno day would be heaps of fun and a great chance to get some of the cars at the same place at the same time.

Race engine should be for proper racing, circuits, corners and braking areas (I'm guessing this is for this purpose).
Drag engine is for straight line speed.
Race engines are usualy made for specific classes. 160HP would be good for production car racing.

As i said... "from an MX5 Forum". Its not my engine, I don't care who thinks what of the power output, I merely posted it here for people to have a squiz.
Racing does not mean Eastern Creek street meet on a whatever night. Real racing has classes. If u have a n/a motor of 1800cc pumping out the same power as a 1800cc turbo, u are in a better position, as your class competition is likely to have a lower output again. RACING, not drag.
For those interested in some kind of motorsport, check out the events page coz i've been doing a bit of communicating with MX5 ppls about it.

More woman comments......
... this figure was done in 3rd gear @6500RPM...
whoever dyno'd it for you is a ripoff artist ... they are blowing the figures up on you
you're right, your dyno run should be done in 4th ... all dyno runs should be done with whichever gear comes closest to 1:1 ratio
so you probably make about 15-20hp less at the wheels than you were told

Im not the one makin up bul**** power figures. And im not the one with gender issues!
Dont you know that all power runs are done in 4th gear? I think he was tryin to make out ya car hammered. As far as 15sec quarters, Well my XR8 without the NOS did a 15.7 at the creek and i know it would destroy your car so i think that is bull**** too.
Im not havin a go at ya Theo, but you should try to be realistic. I dont believe what you have written thats all. :o

Well i didnt believe the figures i got on the dyno aswell,if you read the post a few post ago youd see that i wrote that
As for the 15.9sec quarter, that was done on the g-tec meter which i clearly stated, and there were people there to see it
I know that these meters arnt as accurate as the proper runs but they are pretty close,so dont go flaming me for no reason, its not like i said i ran a 15.9 down the quarter mile at the creek :P
How about we put your xr8 on my g-tec on the exact same road that i ran my times and see what it does, and go from there
Catch ya :P

Yeah its all about consistency...
Same equipment on same roads
Same night if possible

I know what ya sayin. I have already run the XR8 on the Gtech and the best ever time it did was 15.3 with no NOS and 12.9 with it. Some Gtechs i have seen record different times to others. I have seen one go in a car and do consistent mid 13s and then have a different one placed in the same car only to see it struggle to break the 13 sec mark.
