close fit

I think they are 55mm offset on the MPS3 the SP23 are 52.2 mm offset and they fit as stock SP20 is 47mm offset.

Get MPS3 wheel and look at it's rear for the offset marking then you can work out.

the offset isn't gonna be the big issue, it's the width of the new rim fitting near the strut that's gonna be it. nothing a 3 0r 5mm spacer cannot fix!

what are the sizes of both SP20 and MPS rims?

SP20 rims are 6.5 inches wide (that is for the Series II rims). I think that the MPS rims are only 7 inches wide. That is quite narrow actually, seeing as the MX-5 I have (17 inch) are also 7 inches wide.

As they are only 7 inches wide and have a 52.2 offset, you should have no trouble clearing the struts. The MX-5 rims I have on have a 55 offset and I am fine.

Cheers.

I have RX8 rims, with 3mm spacer on the rear giving me a 47mm offset. RX rims are 18's and 8" wide.
55mm offset on a 7" rim should fit no problem, without spacers.

SP20 wheels = 16x6.5 ET47
MPS wheels = 18x7 ET55

14mm less space between strut and wheels, 2mm extra between wheels and guards/outside.

i'd be running 3 or 5mm spacers to bring the wheels outwards a bit. but they are illegal in most/all states.

mmm im confused because im getting mixed opinions whether they will fit or not lol...

spacers are an option but ive heard bad things, like a possibility of a wheel flying off around a corner ?

lol...

14mm less space between strut and wheels, 2mm extra between wheels and guards/outside.have a look at what i said, go outside to you car and measure is you have 14mm or more between your current wheels and the struts. if you do then they will fit. simple as that. if not, then you will require spacer to make that gap bigger...

but i can only of on the info provided by other people as you have not provided info such as your wheels ET and size. or the MPS wheels ET and sizes.

SP20 wheels = 16x6.5 ET47
MPS wheels = 18x7 ET52.5

just figured they are not 55mm they are 52.5....

will measure struts later.

You have the early BJII wheels.

SP20 wheels = 16x6 ET50
MPS wheels = 18x7 ET52.5

does the inch in width of the wheel make much of a difference to the posibility of them fitting?

Punch the numbers into this

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

According to that, the MPS rims are 15.5 mm deeper.

You may not have enough inside clearance from rim to strut. If you can't get hold of the rims to see, then the only way to find out is check how far your current rims are from your struts, and if you have about a 2cm gap between the rim and strut then you should be OK.

i may be able to trial fit them but, there will be no tyres on it will that matter?

ill measure struts when it cools down abit lol :)

not really.

just be aware that tyres will make it a bit wider (depending on tyre size)
and also know the total diameter will be larger.

to work it out take whaterver sixe tyre you are looking at (ie:225/35)

then do this:

225*0.35=

that will be how much the tyre sidewall will add to each side of the wheel.

That looks great! Did you adjust something to increase the rim/strut distance?

Great price too! But yes, watch out with passengers otherwise you might rub paint and ruin paint from the inside out. Just have a 1 passenger rule ;)

do u mean rubbing the guards? because the rears are have been rolled previously.

Yeah that's what i meant, do you reckon you'd be rubbing without them being rolled though?
