Hey everyone on AstinaGT. My name is Kenny but just call me Mafs. I'm one of the original fools on Fast Fours Forum, and I was the NSW reporter for FFVIP. Daniel (Rupewrecht) and Gareth (Fuzzy Dice) already know me from there and can tell you my story and after promising to Dan for months that I'd join on here, I finally have and will be here quite a bit for the present time, nitpicking your minds for info while I am completing my project.
My projects a little bit different but something you guys won't find too weird (but for some reasons freaks 95% of the people I speak to). I currently own a 1994 Mazda 121 Ricebubble and have just taken delivery of a nice GTX front cut sans gearbox to stuff inside the engine bay.
I'll be starting the work fitting the BPD (with just a mod or two  ) at the end of the year for when my licence returns to me in January and I'm currently on the search for a GTR gearbox to convert to FWD for strength (or a BPT FWD gearbox which I've only recently heard of for simplicity) and looking for the GTX rear brakes for engineering purposes (anyone got a pair spare somewhere?? ).

In the meantime, I'm ripping the standard RHB5 turbo off the motor, getting a cheapish custom exhaust manifold made up and using the standard GTX piping to fit most of the stuff onto the 1.3L B3 motor. We will then be taking it out to Eastern Creek before the new track opens to have a quick bit of fun with that motor and it's using my junk bits.:twisted: It's also to give me an indication of where the piping can go when the full conversion happens and seeing the wreckers will only offer me $20 for the B3 motor I may aswell just blow it up in style on the 1/4 and I think 14lbs. boost will do that!!:twisted:8)
The main reason this 1st bit spawned is because I want to beat my bosses Type R and say he wasted $30k on the mighty WEETECH when I spent basically $500 on a granny car and beat him........and as they say in TFATF, it don't matter if it's an inch or a mile so if I even a blinker infront at the end with the 1.3L......

So just to break it down it will be like this.

Evolution 1 - Boosted B3 motor. Anything under 16s is a bonus.
Evolution 2 - GTX conversion done & legal. Looking for mid-high 14s dead stock, and 13s with basic I/E mods.
Evolution 3 - Fully modified.....aim for Top 10 FWD, not enough $$$ for that....YET!! :)

The fun thing about all this.........the total cost of the car at Evolution 2 spec, including the original purchase price of the car, will set me back less than $15k, at the moment it's looking closer to the $10k mark as I can do a lot of the fitting work myself. :D I know barring traction problems that my figures will get pretty close to the mark considering the car is 805kg (figuring 860-875kg after BPT and brake conversion) and with 134Kw from the GTX motor, I have a slightly better power/weight ratio than a DC2R (141Kw/1030Kg) with bucketloads more torque. I'm leaving the car looking completely standard with grey bumpers and all for the time being too......good for the sleeper look.

Anyway, I'm rambling on so I'm gonna go and check the rest of the site out. Take care everyone and talk to ya's about stuff later. C yas!! Mafs!!

*added bit* Just fixing up a tiny bit or two to make the message look purty. :P

Welcome Mafs

I thought I read somewhere that someone was crazy enough to turbo a bubble. Classic Idea. Good luck with it.

I'll second that. Jesus mate, . Hmmm...i wonder if that kind of power in a 121 (if it were a rear drive) could raise the front. Anyway, welcome.

First up, Welcome to AstinaGT.

I've thought about converting the N/A BP into the bubble for a Motorkhana car, a Mini owner gave me the idea 8) Should almost bolt straight in and require little work in the wiring dept. One thing stopping me is the design of the car as it is narrow and has a high roof, the width can be fixed easily enough with wheels but the height :?:

Apart from that I wish you good luck and sugest you take a look at www.fordfestiva.com for some examples of swapping the B3 with a BP.

Oh ****!

Told your ass I had something lined up Danny bro. The guys at EC won't know what hit them. And Fuzzola, I'm glad you're doing the turbo Pulsar idea, because when I beat your times I'll know I made the right choice to ditch that project and go for this!! :P

Also, thanks for the link Cosmo Dude, just scouting it out now aswell.....lot's of info on the B3 motor and B3 to B6T conversions, but not much else so far. As for the comment on the design, I looked at that too, but in NSW it's legal to fit 16x7's on them due to the 1996 model having 14x6's as an option rim so I can dump the car to have little rear suspension travel and still be over the legal height. :) The main problem is that the suspension and steering on 121's are fubar, so to fix the handling I need to get all that sorted which includes creating mounts to fit a rear sway bar (121's don't come out with them....:().
My ambition the past 3yrs I've been disqualified has been to come back on the road so close to the edge of the RTA laws that I can sit there confidently while they go over the car and not get me but have it look like total defect bait for coppers if I want to.....that will happen after I sort everything out motorwise doing the body and everything after the conversion, there's no use damaging a fresh spray job doing a dummy fit of the motor. C yas!! Mafs!!

I had a bit of time this arvo... did up a little pic for fun!

In the bottom pic I have lowered the roofline.. lowered the profile of the front lights.. lowered suspension, new wheels, tinted windows, clear side marker, beefed up the rear bumper, side skirts and beefed up the front spoiler.. couldn't find a good exhaust to put on so I left it for the moment.. but i'll add it later.. :D

Yes it would be nice, but the aim of the car to Evo 2 spec was to do it on a budget. And they are fairly aerodynamic anyway so it's all good. Plus the engineering costs are a HELL of a lot different. Currently it's only a few hundred to get it signed legally with BPT, brake conversion (brake test included), fuel cell in boot (fuel tanks are on the bottom of these things!!:?)....chop the roof and it's not only a few grand to reinforce the pillars, it's an extra grand atleast for engineering. Blows the budget just a bit.
Besides, no one has "legally" done this conversion before in NSW that I know of. I heard of the Demio being done, but it's a 98 chassis and it's a 93 motor.........very illegal. :? I only just scrape in by the fact my car was built Dec 93 but designated Jan 94, therefore (according to my engineer) my 93 GTX conversion is legal.
lol@the pic MrPayner, that looks good and I like the wheels because they're 5 spokers....I'm looking at B45 Simmons however. I've seen a pic of the 121 Motorsport on the net which is the kitted version used in the all female racing series in 1996 (I'll be searching for one soon) but haven't found it in a while since. Think of the dinky little rear spoilers you see on every 3rd 121, plus a little extra lower lip for the front plus similar side skirts to your pic and you've basically got the finished product. C yas!! Mafs!!

agree's with rupe.....is AstinaGT ready for the Maf's yet?!?! :P

roflmfao......traction my boy....l'll be getting a lot more of it very soon, and bring on the low 13's!!! Plus l know where to pick up a nice little 2.2ltr stroker (including bored out sleeves), to3/04 turbo, 40mm wastegate and custome manifold from to help me lower that time even more!!

But your project should be an animal...can't wait to see it flying down the track!!! (well hear about it!!)
