First of all what a great forum, full of interesting and useful information and people.
My story goes like this.
I never considered myself to be a car person. i got my first astina in 1997, not knowing anything about it, i just like the look of it.. I traded in a 1979 cortina for $500 and got the rest on finance through the car yard. It was a 1990 SP with sunroof etc.. you know the drill, i couldnt believe the power the thing had.... I loved that car.. as time went on i went through Falcons and and magna's etc and then I discovered the newer Astina hatch (94), I had to have one , i found one online in 2003 at a car yard and called up and organised a test drive.. the place was about an hour away so i drove there on an extended lunch break from work.. but un beknownst to be i ended up at the wrong car yard (across the road). i walked up to the salesman and said "Ihave come to test drive the astina" and he was like "right this way" and took me to a car i had never seen before... the 1996 Passion red V6 Hardtop. I took her for a spin and fell in love.. I traded my falcon for it. 6 months later i fell into some financial difficulty.. and i had to make the heart breaking decision to get rid of it. since then I have been driving pieces of crap from 80's lasers to 90's falcons.. until the spark hit me again.. I found another hartop.. this time white. 1.8L... took it for a test. Fell in love again. put the deposit down.. I get it on the 30th of JAN 2008.. I cant wait to get it and chuck some wheels and extractors and the works on it....
Astina's are more than just a car.
