Hey everyone, just thought Id drop a line from the Emerald Isle of Irlande.

Toms the name hailing from Irelands Eye... aka Dublin.
New to all this so just gettin used to all the jargon.
How is the world of Astina glory?

Anyone know of any shows that do be goin on in Ireland, dont hear much bout them. Mostly UK shows I'm hearin about!
Have to get to see one in the near future.

Thoughts of buying a white '98 Astina, 83,000 miles, good nic.
Looks good and drives beautiful, but dont know that much about them. Fell in love with it as soon as I set my eyes on it and sittin in it for the first time was like... well ye no what it was like. Cant afford it at this very moment but soon i hope to have the cash.;)
How well on fuel are they usually?

Anyway, trying to learn more bout them so any replies would be greatly apreciated. Not great at finding the sites for them. Just Wiki reallys all I got at the moment.

Slainte

Tom

ah bourbs, i work with a couple of irish blokes and neither speak like that.

shomey you having us on with the accent?

otherwise, the astina's are great cars, a series 3 BA (what you're looking at) with the 1.8L motor will easily do 450km to a tank, and thats with extra use of the 'happy' pedal :)

might be a BJ1 ;) but it will do roughly the same or more in fuel sipping...cause they dont guzzle!!! :D

Australia got white BJIs and BJIIs.

But a UK 98 is more than likely a BA, as they still sold them later than us. I think i've even seen BAs listed as 99 there.

But anyway, welcome Tom!

shomey you having us on with the accent?:

Eh yeh thats the way I speak ... I think. Depends where you're from over here, Im originally Meath just north of Dublin so have a mix of a bogger and city accent... :D, but I tend to write a little different than i speak... SMS!

Anyway, thanks for the info lads.

Yeh its a BA the one Im lookin at, sorry if i confused ye! BA production ceased August 98 I think as far as I can find out but you are more educated on the matter.

Ah no we start at 8.30 finish round 5ish. Half five if we want extra time off durin the year, so we can work up hours. Mondays tend to be a slow day after the weekend as im sure it is for our Aussie drinkin buddies, so work doesnt properly start till midday.

I was actually over there bout two years ago for 6 weeks. best time of me life... ill be headin back over next year or the year after for a year, if yous will have me :)

is it really true that there is pretty much a pub on every corner?

shomey2
16-02-2008, 11:58 PM
Well I come from a town with about 6-7000 original population over about 3-4miles diameter and theres about 16 pubs, so yeah every corner would have one.:p
Ive never finished a pub crawl in good order and still ended up able to get in to the night club :D:o
And its not more than 15minutes to any town around us with more pubs.
You'd swear we drank alot
Its ridicluous though.
