Hey guys, i'm looking at lowering my car but unfortunately i'm with NRMA so i've been hit by the 30mm rule (10mm lower than that and i'd be happy!). Anyway i've been researching and came across this topic which said that the insurance company take their stock measurements directly from the manufacturer and in this case the manufacturers measurements stated +/- 20mm meaning these guys could go 50mm lower (see the 3rd last post here http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1362&page=4)

I was wondering if anyone knew if the ba astina's stock height had a similar sort of tolerance which would allow me to go down that little bit extra :) . Oh btw changing insurance companies to just car is not possible hahaha

i wouldn't do it as you insurance doesn't allow it. only justcar and shannons will allow more than 20-30mm lowering on any car.

I dropped the ol' 929 by 60mm and Allianz still paid. They asked if it was modified and i told them it was lowered and had a big exhaust.

Realistically though any opinion posted on a web forum ain't worth a pinch of goat sh_t when it comes to insurance or the courts.

Allianz now only allow 20mm of lowering. I know as I used to be with them, and when I told them I lowered the car, they them informed me I will not be covered by them anymore.

So I went to JustCar Insurance and got a $450 a year saving as they were alot cheaper.

Hey guys, completely forgot about this thread haha. Well I followed your advice and got it lowered by jax quickfit a couple of weeks ago. Its on pedders springs and the lowering by from what they said was 1"-1.5"... well my centre of rim to guard gap is now 360mm at the front and 375mm in the rear so not sure how much that makes (its a 1.8). Anyway here's the results

The back I really want to go down another cm or so but its been 2 weeks so I think the springs have settled. btw called nrma after I lowered it and I quote "we're fine with it as long as its rta legal".. I wonder what they'd say if I was in an accident haha.

similar to me, I'm insured with AAMI and when I got my wheels their only requirement was "are they legal?"

they also said I was only allowed one mod, I told them my wheels were the same dimensions as an OEM optional wheel (which they are) and they said that I could classify them as OEM and keep my one mod unused :D

when I asked about lowering they only said "yeah, just let us know when you do it"

hahaha yeah I have leather.. 600 dollar seat covers from ebay (ultimate auto trim), got them in a group buy with the skyline guys. Think there's another sale in the group buy section here although they're getting off a different company.. i'll try and find my threads on them. Tricked heaps of people though haha

regarding the lowering, yeah my worries were that nrma technically has a 30mm limit so if I hit a porsche or something they'd go all over the car and try and get me from something small like 1cm over their lowering limit
