I'm waiting on 225/50/15 Mickey Thompson tires...no ETA on them, so i doubt they'll be here. I can get some 205's but not sure if i want to or not...
I think it might be a last minute decision if i enter or not.

nice. hope you can make it.
for the record, you've got a 4 point harness yes? there will be a crack down on that for cars that go over 110mph at CA.

Was working on going into All motor class, 2 months ago but when car got stuck and panel beaters I said stuff it.
But I have been seeing and providing some custom machined bits for a few guys. moslty in the bigger catagoreys but as always alot of Sayers who never turn up.
The only thing I know or was told is PAc is planning somthing for Joe and that's all I was told. Don't know if the Celica is ready either. Hear rumors too.
but Spectator again I do belive.

Celica is good as new - well, appart from a minor bingle it picked up in NZ a few weeks ago. Another new engine too (3.4L). Not sure if tony wedlock will be out there in the solara yet...would be neato to see those 2 line up against each other again.
The gas motorsport camrydore is going to back out there, with Malcolm Glassett behind the wheel.
the PAC surprise for Gas is their new chassis - but i somehow doubt it'll be ready in time for CA...or even jambo for that matter, seeing as they just picked it up.... but yeah, ex Mopar pro stock they are turning into a rotary powered mazda 6 ...
Going to be one awesome weekend out there though ;) If you are out there Rod, head over to the B3M tent.

glad to see you've entered rob! now you just need to convince the brisbane regulars to make the trip down (next time obviously). next season we're hoping to have the street fwd and front mod classes split if we can prove there are enough front mod cars

Yep entered last night. I decided to just get the 205 Mickey's and they arrived today...will pick them up tomorrow.
All i have to do now is spray the wheels they will be fitted to and get a battery clamp setup made so it passes scrutineering (have been lucky in the past)...don't want to risk not having it this time. As for the harness...i have a OMP 3 point fitted at the moment, but not up to regulations because the back strap is mounted at an angle greater than 45 degrees, and it's now over 5 years old (if that matters?). I can easily fit a 4 point, but it's not AS approved, so if they do crack down, i think i'll be screwed...oh well, will have to see what happens on the day.

section 4.10.11 Safety Belts / Harnesses
Sedans quicker than ... 110mph:
"Minimum of four-point harness that complies at least with Australian Standard E35 and also AS 2596"
it's part of the andra rules.

If you get caught...yes... safety regs are taken pretty seriously in Syd from what i've heard....and rightly so.. if you have an acco, they've got liability insurance to think about etc....

reminder - it's going to be a big day. 163 entrants, biggest in nsw for a while i think. big pro field, 19 fwd racers. should yield some good racing. weather is looking pretty good as well. nice cold temps!

what times have you been running till now? mid-low 14?

best i did NA was a 14.576 at this event last year. best i have done with nitrous on board was a 14.242, and that was with backing off at the end of the track.
i can get in to the 13's if i put the correct n2o jet in my set up as that'll yield a better a/f ratio. i'm currently running the smallest fuel jet i can, and still that's too big for that n2o jet, so i can afford to go up one n2o jet. decisions decisions...

Apparently tomorrow nights Wednesday Runs are going to be huge.
Alot of people on test.
but yes - they have gone had on checking peoples ANDRA licences and papers work.
They even now checking people have track times.
Even kicked one guy out who had no stuff for 10.99 quikcer - EG cage etc - he apparently ran close to 7-8 second pass just on the 660ft mark time - trap speed.
But I have feeling it might have more to do with few other issues. As he did back off, and I have feeling he might have had some problems anyway.
I'm excided at the moment for it but.

My car is ready now too. Battery is mounted, wheels are painted and tyres are on. I went to the trouble of removing the back seat for ****s and giggles and I'm leaving my 3 point harness in, being OMP, i hope it wont attract any unwanted attention.
Will just have to see how i go on the day...will be trial and error all the way i think as i haven't trialed this setup at all. Can't wait.

good stuff!
i assume you'll be coming up for jamboree, so make sure you enter in the front mod class so fingers crossed we can run separate classes to increase the fwd drag racing exposure (and fm should have more prize money too).
ROB-80E
17-05-2008, 06:02 PM
Not sure if I'll be making Jamboree or not. Will depend on time and mostly money. Even if i did, i wouldn't be entering in front mod...I have a street car setup so will be staying in the street class competition. Seriously though, it annoyed me big time when i had to race against the front mod cars at jambo a couple of years ago...shouldn't be done...may as well combine all of the street classes.
Anyway, hopefully the weather holds up tomorrow. I'll be leaving newy in the morning and should get there around 7am. See ya's there.

I'm sure andy will post up soon - but the 13 sec pass in the SP20 wasn't on... we had problems with the tune up, and cold weather, whilst good for power, wasn't good for getting the nitrous bottle up to temp (i think a bottle warmer will be the next investment). Anyway, low bottle pressure meant slightly rich jetting, and whilst a slight PB was had on the first run of the day, the car was restricted to between 14.6 and 14.8 all day before being knocked out in the 2nd round of eliminations.
event was called off prior to the finish of the event, because track temps plummetted to an "unsafe" level - after one of the 289 cars clipped both walls, they shut it down without completing the event.... bit of a shame.
Was good to finally meet Rob - the blue beast was absolutely flying all day.... and looked like a million bucks :) Easilly the best presented BG i've seen....

Rob: i know, they were just cranking everyone through...the schedule was pretty intense.... about 3 times we got andy's car back to the pits, pulled the bottle out to try and get some heat into it, and we were called back up for another run.... I reckon Ray should move the sydney event to a summer month (so the track is a bit nicer to everyone), and promote it as a big 2 day event....at least then everyone wouldn't have been running around all day...
Would love to know what your car would do given a kinder track - head wind + no traction in 1st isn't the best combination... ahh well, you'll have to bring it up here in august to see what it can do :P

GOD IT WAS COLD.
yah I know I live inj Sydney but I consider that the Bush. Give me Botany bays poisoned water warm breeze anyday.
Yes a Bottle warmer or even him I should of suggest - gas torch. HIMM ?
Nice to see the SP20 in person for once.
Nice ot the the 323 back again since well it's been along time.
Yeah some of the 289 cars one of the RX-3 was up and all over.
Those Funny boys from QSR and Bill - was looking to see if his brother steve was around - his workshop is a walk up the road. They tryed to DEMO run the BMW Again but it let out some blood. I thought that funny.
I can't understand why the Sydeny events are always mid autum and early spring.
Kind of sad to hear to shut it all down must of been just after I left. I could not take it any more- the smell of the place and the cold.
But seeing those little mazda's it made the effort worth while.
Good to see the cars out there doing battle.

i did a new pb of 14.236 (only 0.01 faster) on my first run of the day at a shade under 97mph...and that was with a god aweful 60ft time of 2.2 something (usually 2.0) so if the track was there i should have been a good way in to the 13's.
kurtles (snert) got an awesoem 12.5 (big time pb) and did a flat 1.8 60ft time.
and yeah, it's been said about the tracking being closed because it was too unsafe, what flippen temps were the track when we were racing? hmmm
bottle heater is on the cards for sure.
rob, understand what you're saying about racing in SF rather than FM (and yeah, i wouldnt like to race against the current single digit FM cars).
and nice to meet you rod

Nice to meet and see all you blokes.
I just don't know if anyone knew or heard but I was told today.
apparently, Someone is planning to put on a different event in sydney on a Comp but I'm not sure.
All I know is RARE SPARES is involved in sponsorship. They said it's going to be a street type event ? but it's new at the WSID. it's just in planning. But apparently one to be held in QLD as well to go with supernats and powercrusie etc.
My quess V8 thing but I don't know. Thinking maybe as you lot said that next year another round in sydney so ?
