Ok, having troubles with A/C. Not sure about BA and BJ, but BG has 4 speed settings. On 1 and 2 (lowest 2), no air is coming out whatsoever, both when a/c is on or when just fan is on. When a/c is on on those levels, the a/c light is on, but as said, no air. When i boost it to 3-4, air comes out as normal. On fan, its fine. on a/c, the a/c is not working (light off, air not conditioned). BUT i know that on 1-2 the a/c is working even though its not pumping out air, as when i then switc it to 3-4 i get a blast of cold air for 5-10 seconds while it gets rid of what it had stored. What the hell is going on!?

Same on BA and most cars I've seen (except 280ZX). The resistor pack is in the air-flow to keep it cool. The pack drops out with two screws and a plug, grab a tourch and stick your head under the dash.
You may want to check the resistance before replacing it, don't forget to post the price.

I've got no idea when it comes to these things but what u both said sounds right. Some part with coils which the air runs through needs to be replaced and the part costs $64.
Cheers guys.

Hi all, this seemed like the right place to ask about air conditioning problems (correct me if I'm wrong).
I just bought my BA11P1 Astina Hatch - 1.8, and on the way home from Brisbane on a 38 degree + day (200km to Nth East NSW) the air con seemed to work less and less, then not at all the next day (it actually seems slightly hotter than with the A/C button off)
It seems from reading some previous A/C posts there may be some sort of systematic check I should do to see where the fault is.
Could you please give me some advice as to where to start.
Cheers

I guess you need to regas? or check for any gas leak? Just my opinion :)
I have a problem with my A/C... It's nice and cold I like it but the only thing is the funny smell coming out from my A/C... Did my research on it and tried to spray some bacteria killer stuff but it doesnt work. Some said it smells like urine but in my case, it smells like sweat that dries up. Has anyone had this problem before? How can I get rid of that smell?
