Hi Guys, I am TechoSteve's wife,

I own a 1997 V6 BA Astina in White. I have just fixed up my engine, replacing the alternator, some wiring, had a full tune up, NGK iridium sparks and have a K&N Panel Air Filter coming this week.

I have also just put on some custom windscreen wipers and like hubby will have new suspension, brakes and exhaust done in a few months.

Met with my smashy today and will have my baby in for a full overhaul and new coat of paint (Mazda "Velocity Red"). Have also picked my wheels (Romi - "Twister" 17" chromes).

Am also planning new stereo, 3 point immobiliser and maybe window tinting, my windows are standard at present.

Husband is currently out spray painting our brake calipers, mine red and his black!!

Any other ideas???

I will post photos as soon as baby looks her best ;)

Will do, the brake caliper re-spray by TechoSteve looks great, I highly recommend it, really tarts the old girl up!! ;)

We picked up specialty paint from Supercheap, pulled off the wheels, masked up and away we went.

Welcome Kara, good to see someone with a V6 astina, they don't seem to pop up very often.

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome.

Versace tyres on Canterbury Road at Bankstown can order them in. I like something a bit flashy:D

Looks like I will be getting my respray over the next few weeks so I will post before and after photos.

Nah, just make sure you get the specific paint and not just any spray we used "Septone Automotive - Brake Caliper and Drum Paint" Black for TechoSteve and Red for mine (to match the new paint job).

TechoSteve jacked up each corner of the car, took off the wheel as you would for changing to a spare.

He used a scourer to clean off the caliper, washed, masked and sprayed. We will probably re-coat in a couple of weeks as he did not want the paint to run by doing too quick.

nice work on the brakes, i'm gonna be redoing mine. sand them a bit smoother and refinish in silver/black. its not hard, just time consuming. MUCH easier with the brakes off the rotor, i did 3 with it on, masking nightmare :(

Just as a matter of interest Kara, how much is the respray going to set you back?

Kara
02-05-2008, 07:40 PM
Hi DarkMaTTer, quite a bit as I need a new bonnet, new front bumper and some body work done as well, so all up about 6K.

If you had a good body would probably be about 3.5K

Hi All,

just wanted to update my mods!

My car is going in this weekend for a full body overhaul (inc. new bumpers, panel beating and new paint - Mazda "Velocity Red").
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm48/kara300672/newm6_gallery09_1024ashx.jpg

Have had to change my wheels as my first pick is no longer available (Romi - "Twister" 17" chromes), so now going with Lenso Type M 17 x 7 (matt black spokes with a fine red rim :D and Falken FK 452 205/40ZR17 tyres.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm48/kara300672/sm_type-m.jpg

Am also planning new stereo (not sure which yet - thinking of Blaupunkt Bahamas MP46, but have also been recommended for a Pioneer) but picked out my speakers Soundstream Picasso 5" x 7" front & 6.5" in back (just love the spiders!!) a 3 point immobiliser and maybe window tinting, my windows are standard at present.

actually, now looks like as good as time as any to take the stina to the track and get some quarter mile times under her belt! I bet the thing whiegs in at less than 950kg all told stripped as she is.
You should be doing 14 sec quarter miles at that power to wieght ratio, about standard wrx times.

Hi Phly,

probably 8k for the bodywork, parts and spray, 1900 for the seat trimming and door panels (black monza leather) and 1500 for wheels and tyres, 1200 for stereo, 850 for immobiliser and alarm and 400 for window tinting!!

OMG!!

Oh well it will be beautiful when done!!
