Well peoples,
just writing to say that the Street Dreams (http://www.streetdreams.com.au) staff went on a "fact finding mission" so to speak out to the local runs with our new Street Dreams/HiBoost Sp20... shall i let the facts speak for themselves...
- Holden (opel in US) Monaro CV8 - eaten
- Nissan 180sx - eaten
- Nissan nx coupe with SR20DET swap - eaten
- Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T - eaten
take in to account that fine tuning is still being done and that the car is not being really "pushed", lots of clutch slippage and wheel spin but hey if it eats V8's i am happy ("I" = driver of workshop car =) and so are the rest of the staff
so yes it is now working in Australia, and anyone interested in purchasing a HiBoost kit in Australia should call a member of our friendly staff on 02 9938 2341

Some times would be nice - were these legal runs (done on a proper 400m drag strip) or hokey street racing....
What state of tune were the other cars in - transmissions drivers etc etc?
What kind of other work are you doing to the motor? Or is it otherwise stock? What clutch are you using? Do you run a LSD or open diff?
Is this a development of the 'thing' ford had on the Laser SR2 a year or so back at the Sydney motorshow?
Are you intercooled?
I'm not tryingt o be a wowser here but some solid data would be good to give a fair indication of the performance?

This is starting to head towards commercial advertising

Wiredone - I give u some positive feedback - sounds brilliant. Why nobody is impressed with an Astina running what sounds like low 6's 0-100 (based on 180, Monaro etc), and being the first to do turbo in a BJ in Oz that i know of on the board is a good achievement. Considering so many people come on here asking for info on turbo etc u've got every right to put the phone number on so good luck with the kits. As Aaron said, put some figures up when u've got them coz it'll be interesting to see the times and output!

well i was in no means trying to blatantly advertise i just thought some people would be interested...
well the car is currently running a stock clutch ( not much fun after about 4000 RPM =) running a custom street dreams/spearco FMIC stand alone fuel management (Haltech F10, all it needs to 8psi, but soon to be replaced with a Haltech E6X) there is no LSD for now, although with the state of the rubber on the car and the camber from the 2.5" drop makes traction hard enough for now, but that will soon change too... =)
This is not a development thing from ford... We have worked with HiBoost Turbo Systems (http://www.hiboost.com) in the US to mod their kit (quite a few changes needed) to bring it to Australia
It was a "Hokey" street meet and as such we couldnt get quarter times etc for obvious reasons... the car runs really well, bit rich at warm up but as i said tuning is still under way
the car is going on the dyno in about 2 weeks at a local dyno day we are holding (without commercially advertising call if your interested to join us for a bbq and a $40 dyno run 9938 2341 its a club event)
The car is still a work in progress, the list of next months mods for autosalon are:
- JE forged pistons and Pauter rods
- ACT clutch
- Haltech E6X full stand alone ECU
- Alpine system install
- wish i could add interior but not yet =(
i own the car but obviously it is being worked on in smooth succession by my friends at Street Dreams (http://www.streetdreams.com.au)... from the amount of work i do there you could kind of call me an employee =p
hope this answers some questions... ill happily ask more if anyone wants to know

So you really have no (and I mean no) performance data at all? Except that you "ate" a variety of cars? And all cars that have a wide variety of performance levels at a illegal street meet?
*sighs*
So the thing hasn't even been on a dyno for tuning? Let me guess - a laptop gets plugged into the piggyback controller and extra fuel dumped it to make it rich through the rev range... You're not actually touching the factory ECU at all? not even trying to trick it into fueling and sparking properly?
Sounds like the kit has potential but needs a lot more work before it's saleable.

ahh thats a good question...
the kit comes with the option to upgrade to an e6x which will control ignition timing as well as fuel...
it has been tuned on a dyno but that was done off premises at our local Haltech's place of business, we were not given an exact figure and as there is work still to be done is doesnt really worry me. It runs well.... not just "more fuel" it has been dyno tuned to run well, including taking into account barometric differences across australia that the kit may have to face, and hopefully any kind of treatment you can throw at it... so rest assured it is simply not just running "more fuel" it has been tuned, thus trying to make the mapping on the unit as close to perfect "out of the box" =)
The mapping also includes the option to use a Haltech Boost solenoid to control boost over RPM range, which if you not using a new clutch could come in handy at prolonging the life of it or on the flip side if you want to run forged internals (an option in the kit) and up the boost you can get it to spike or drop off on boost as you plant it =)
Yes it only runs a Haltech F10 which if you look at haltechs catalog is a stand alone fuel management unit. This piggy backs of the standard ECU's ignition control.
yep the kit does have potential =) i can certainly tell you that at the amount of stuff that comes with it (front mount cooler, fuel management with direct plug in loom, IHI T03 Turbo, all polished piping, new dump pipe, and every nut and bolt ever needed), apart from the lack of clutch(an upgrade by the way=) it will do perfect for most people, it is certainly making me want to go on parts runs at the workshop alot more haha
im happy to answer any more questions you have.

sounds sweet :D
keep us updated :D
Yep, seems like a heap of tuning left to do. keep us informed with dyno readings and some 1/4mile times.

hi man im real keen on what you guys have done an achieved so far an keep up the good work
on another note: but lets be realistic here a r33 gts-t quicker then a wrx cant swallow that pill
an a cv8 with traction control yet ur clutch slips an wheels spin im choking now
i cant get traction out of the standard 2.0l so i can only imagine how much trouble urs would be having cheers dude

Hi Wire Done
Welcome to AstinaGT.
Nice to see you doing some work to your Astina, but all those fancy big words aside, LOL, how about just joining in for some normal stuff with us?
We are always interested in what people are doing to their cars and stuff, and I am one of the first on here to be asking lots of dumb questions (shoosh you lot!) but you have just baffled me with bull**** with your post here! I have no idea of most of what you have gone on about, although with what the guys on here have been teaching me, I can sorta get some of it if I tilt my head sideways and have my tongue sticking out on the left........
:D
Dude, just relax, and kick back with us too though. We want to know about you and your car for sure, not necessarily about the company you are doing the speil on.
I don't know about any of the other guys, but I am not one for doing street racing stuff, I want to keep my license intact. That said though, we all want to make our cars FOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLIIIIIEEEEEEEEESSSSIIIIIIKKKKKKKK K!
Just kidding!
Hope you can come to Canberra for the Astina GT Bash on the 25th of October and say G'day at the BBQ. We won't be doing burnouts n stuff but just a friendly get together. You will be more than welcome!!!
In the meantime, once again, welcome aboard the good ship Astina, and have a great day!!!!!
Cheers,
daKitty!

Sounds cool. You know Haltech is a Aussie ECU as well dont you. They are down in
the shire here in Sydney. What sized Turbo are you running. I have noticed a trend
in oil usage recently and may need to start thinking of a rebuild and a turbo that can
eat HSV's at 8psi sounds right up my alley.

Mal

Well, I am thinking of getting the new 3, but see wat cost this thing is going to hit me with, I could be interested.
I tried to get answers from Hi Boost and other US turbo places and got no replies  maybe this can be an interesting alternative.

well i am more than happy to chill here with you guys...
i think i gave the wrong impression... i want my license intact as well lol... but the workshop had just turned out my car and a 93 civic with an h22a so i was sort of forced into trying it against something "STRAIGHT AWAY" lol
i wish i could come to the astina meet up but we have a $40 dyno day on at the workshop that day... gotta be there to get the official figures on the car... ill post asap =)
hang in there for more info guys...
once again, i think text can be a killer somtimes. I wasnt trying to brag, or promote the shop, or even promote street racing... JUST HAD TO TELL SOMEONE!!!!!! so fun to drive now...
cant wait for more boost, and a new clutch... oh a some new tyres to get some traction with it all...lol
keep in touch... and if anyone wants to see the car in action just give us a personal message and ill give you the dyno day details so you can come watch it... maybe even go for a passenger spot round the block... =p

Hey dude,
Everyone is welcome here....
everyone knows the biggerest words confuzzle da Kitty
but I wasn't saying don't be happy with your wheels!
We are all happy when we do something NICE to our wheels.
My other half just picked up his new car and we are both grinning fit to split.
And all the bits n pieces I have done to my BA since joining AstinaGt have kept me very happy. I am learning more all the time. And my little beast is getting better and better all the time. I was so happy when I finally completed my CAI and got my K&N filter!!!!
I was telling the whole internet about it LOL!
So by all means, don't be shy!!!
Don't take my posts the wrong way.
I don't think anyone here on AstinaGt takes my posts very seriously in the first place
Sorry to hear you can't make the AstinaGt Bash, and if the Dyno Day gets shifted then bring your beastie on down so we can have a listen. We will all be dying to hear the note from it. Hopefully most of the Victoria crew will be along, so would be a GREAT opportunity to show off your system.
Seriously, consider it. $40 for Dyno will happen again, and the blokes would probably appreciate the exposure to other Astina owners if you came along
Anyway, have a think about it. Talk to your guys too.
Just remember, when you are talking your techie stuff, remember to throw in some layman speak for me every once in a while please? Otherwise how am I gonna learn anything?
Cheers!!!
