Hiya!

I found this site looking for info on the Mazda Astina. My Fiance drives a 1994. He lives in Valley View, Adelaide. I am looking into upgrading his sound system as a surprise. I am having a little difficulty b/c I am so unfamiliar with this car and car stereo installation. Would something I buy in the states be capatible with this car? Would he have to be a tech head to install it? Would I need to purchase an installation package? I am also planning on buying new speakers for his car. Is that also difficult to do? I would APPRECIATE any advice or suggestions any of you have. Please forgive my inexperience.

Thanks Heaps,
Karen

Hey Karen
The short version is that 12 volts is 12 volts and anything you get anywhere is basically compatible.

An installation kit can be useful, depending on what goes in.
For instance, if you are installing a power amp in addition to a head unit, some decent power cable to the batttery, and fused near the battery is needed.
A kit should have the cable, connectors and fuse holder.

It is a really big subject depending on how far you go though.....

Installation requires a certain amount of understanding and patience, but essentially is a this-connects-to-that kind of thing. Hard to know what more to say without knowing where you want to go with it.
Feel free to pm me, I've done quite a few high-end installs.
