Hey all, has anyone gotten the extra premium tinting or car alarm on a recent astina?
The price the Mazda dealership is quoting me is $545 and the alarm is $799. Just wondering if its worth it?
Also they offer Glaze duco to protect the paintwork for $725. Anyone gotten it done?[/color:post_uid0]
I have a friend whose cousin does tinting. He quoted my $200 to remove my existing tint and fit the new tint at any shade I wanted.[/color:post_uid0]

This is the stuff that is done at the Mazda dealer with manufacturing warranties. I'd expect em to be more expensive. Both come with lifetime warranties.
The alarm is sposed to be American, that can't be bought over here, an EA700 Mark 2. If that means anything to anyone.[/color:post_uid0]

hey there.
i got a garage R alarm form these guys in moorabin. dunno how its so cheap but it was! $250 for the alarm and $415 all up installed. and that price has now dropped to $230. it goes ok, got remote start dual shock sensor all sorts of saftey features and stuff, anyhoo give mark an email at keigo@optushome.com.au for more info or if ude like to have a look at mine im down in frankston
cheers mike[/color:post_uid0]
I had teflon stuff put on to protect the paintwork by my dealer when i bought my astina. *dont reeeally think its worth it. *as long as u look after the car and clean it regularly you should be fine. and get the bird poo etc off asap.
$725 sounds a bit steep, maybe look around before going with mazda's price.
i [i:post_uid0]think[/i:post_uid0] u can get tinting cheaper than mazda's too. Should be able to.
If ur keen, put the alarm in urself. *Much easier than it sounds, I've done it to a few friends cars allready. Especially easy with new cars coz there's ample wiring and sensors allready in the car that you can utilize.
the hard ones are the old cars coz you usually have to put in the central locking too which is a b*tch!!

Hey Marquise,
When you take your car to the dealer for this factory warrenty
stuff hang round for half an hour and watch some pimply little
**** apprentice rake crap out of your car all the way down to
the local tinting place to have it done. I checked out prices
for tint before I bought my car and when I asked for a quote
they asked me where I was buying from and I told them they
said they would do it for the special dealer price for the
dealership as they do all their cars. Same with the factory
rear spoiler which is actually sprayed and fitted by Talon.
Its too costly for a dealership to train people in all those
tasks so it is easier and cheaper for them to farm the work
out. Costs you the same which is about double the normal
cost.
Have fun with it

yes it does warn you to step the fark away from the car.
the reason the price is abit dear is because of the additional window lift and motion sensor (walk past near my car and it will tell you to fark off (not in those words)) plus that price is with labour and ofcourse, lifetime warranty.
the guy that installed the alarm told me that there's a chip that you can buy overseas which you can program to say whatever you like. dont know about the female voice mr payner...
but it would be good to have "who is your daddy and what does he do"...[/color:post_uid0]

Thanks for the help guys. The dealership does all the work inhouse, so its not outsourced (unless they're lying lol). I decided to go with the alarm, tint and super glaze duco. Got a few hundred off the price.
The alarm does have shock protection, with 2 sensitivities. But unfortunately it doesn't talk, heh. Wonder if the talking ones attract more attention, effectively cancelling out the benefits? Does yours go off when cats or dogs are walking by Peter? :p
The super glaze duco is a double layer of coating so I'll supposedly will never have to cut/polish/wax and sposed to perserve the colour. So I hope it works well. If some fool scratches it though I'll just cry.[/color:post_uid0]

sometimes the warning goes off when mungrels pass by...
it does get abit annoying, but the good thing is you can turn it off.
that double coated layer on the paint is a good idea. it will keep your car shine for long year. and your rite, no wax needed. i have one aswell, called ming paint protection...
you cant really avoid the idiots from scratching the car, but IF that does happen, dont forget to tell the insurance that you have the super glaze duco on the paint so they can cover you for that aswell.[/color:post_uid0]
Marqi...
i hope you are not considering paying 545 for a bloody window tint... on my sp20, they said 545, and i laughed at them... i got my tints at 250.... they have soooo much margin to play with.... 545 to 250... and i think i could have gone lower again... the alarm... sounds very steep... again, probably heaps of margin... start haggling from 450...
don't be scared to hassle them, they are already making enough off you...
cheers,
Bill[/color:post_uid0]
