A question for Tony and/or Daniel,

Would it be possible for the members to modify through FTP the uploading/downloading and changing of the HTML file in the readers rides so you guys don't have to be bugged whenever someone changes something??

For example. You set up an account for me "MrPayner" and restrict access to my directory [i:post_uid0]only[/i:post_uid0] on the server. That way, it would allow me to update the HTML file, and change any information or pictures on that page too. We could also allow for a space to write a little blurb on our cars, what's been done to it, etc etc.

If someone were to stuff up their HTML file, maybe design a template page that's read-only [save under different file name] and downloadable so we can work on it offline for this purpose as well.

I thought it was a good idea as some people have been making some pretty drastic changes to their cars [ie, Dan, Theo, Chris, yadda yadda yadda]

AND! it would be a great feature so we can store our avatars on the server too, as I've noticed a few ppl's aren't working again. [well, i can't see them anyway]

Similar to how FordLaser.com does it - they have a UserDb where the actual member logs in and can update with new pics / info. Content must be approved by the owner/moderator, so far has been working well (except I hear that ToyBoy has had trouble getting the car on there??).[/color:post_uid0]

Is this "new and improved" feature ready to be introduced or are there still a few minor bugs to sort out RE integration with the board??

ready to run, but it just needs the integration with the board logins still.

so ... not ready yet![/color:post_uid0]

I've noticed of late that alot of "Readers Rides" are blank.. Would it be possible for these to get cleaned up as it does look a little messy on that particular page..

Also.. another suggestion.. Would it be possible to just have the link for the readers ride linked to the registered users nickname, ie MrPayner, MrShadow, Dogo, etc, rather than the entire line.. it would clean up the page a little more in not having so many links.

Cheers
Adam

I have been looking to do this on maz323f.co.uk and have figured out how to let the user change the pics but not the specs :(

Help on this one would be appreciated :)

sure, thats possible too.

The readers rides use a script I wrote from scratch. Each user has a file that contains their readers ride information, and also the logins utilize to the forum database.
