Just thoguht i'd let everyone know that Ash was in a car accident this is what he had to say on OZM...
Hey all;
It has been SO long since ive been on here! and i apologise that i havent been too active in recent times... but been busy with work, and lacking an internet connection at home. I wish i had better news than this..
But thursday night i 'wrote off' my baby girl... In a incident that could of been avoided by running the possum over; i managed to hit a gutter hard enough to tear the strut, CV joint, and suspension right out of my front left side of my car.
Driving back from "mona vale pub" at 3am with 2 friends in the car, i was approaching a sharp bend to the right on edgecliff road in collaroy plateau. About 20m before the bend a possum darted out infront of the car. Instinctivly i tried to avoid it, by swerving to the right onto the oncoming lane, then back to the left to get on my side of the road, realising how sharp the bend was i turned hard to the right, hit the brakes; the wheels locked and i flew into the gutter, narrowly avoiding a tree, the fencing, and a 5m drop which would of followed if i was 10ms back. i ended up on the ending point of the turn with my car up on the grass as the ground leveled out. Everyone was fine which im most happy about. The engine was still running fine after the dust cleared. But after i saw my front left wheel i soon realised i wont be going anywhere soon.
The towing process was long and painfull. As i felt the wheel drag underneath the car and lift the front off the ground by a good 70cm. Tearing out what was left of the suspension and the brake line that was holding the wheel to the car. AAMI took one look at it and said the 2 words i didnt want to hear... "Write off".. i cried like a little girl who fell and hurt her knee.
I was then told i had to clear everything out of the car... unpacked all my stuff.. But i was not allowed to remove my altezza tailights, the chrome tailgate, and my SPARCO pedals. which i was VERY disappointed about.
I managed to get my subwoofer out. But without a decent set of tools was unable to get my head unit, or AMP.
So now im waiting for the claim to come through of which ill only be seeing about $4K as nearly $2K will be going towards my excess and towing. They have to investigate my 24hour movements that day due to there was 2 schooners and 2 middies involved over a 4 hour period. (i have my full license).
Now im looking at getting a cheap BG 323 Astina, and i have a few in mind. This car will only have to last me about 1 year until i can afford something hot.
I will try to get some pictures up soon. but like i said.. im not on the internet as much as i would like!
Hope to see you all soon at a upcoming cruise. I will bring my bomb along!
