Hey guys.

I'm new to the site & I've had a read of some of the threads that have been talked about regarding this issue but I'm just looking for little advice.

I know that Rx8 rims have been successfully fitted on SP20's in the past, & people who have also lowered their cars with these rims have needed to roll their guards & also apply spacers to avoid scrubbing. I've recently purchased at set of Rx8 rims for my SP20. At the moment I have stock suspension but I'm looking to upgrade due to the fact that they look crap without your car lowered (from what i've read). I'm just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what sort of suspension i should go for? Also I really want to avoid applying spacers if i can.......can this be done? I've been told that if you buy coil-overs, wheel spacers won't be needed. Is this correct?

Thanks

You can't fit the wheels with the standard strut unless you fit spacers of AT LEAST 3mm on the back. The fronts are fine.
As for the coil over query, well that really depends on the girth of the coil over leg, and where it sits in relation to the old strut. It'll be pot-luck whether they fit then or not.

Is that the case when the car is lowered or did you mean when it isn't?

Its that case whether its lowered or not the wheel wont clear the rear strut without the spacers , and at a guess depending on how much its lowered you may need to roll the rear arches

yeah 5mm spacers are ususally used
Please remember these are not legal either.

The offset and width is the problem

if it was your only choice in wheel a soloution is to ahve the offset reset to your car which I think on a Sp20 is 45 or 47.5mm from top of my head.

All the Rx-8 rims I've seen fitted to others cars I think it's only the M3 and M6 -they don't need some sort of spacer.

This is mine with a 3mm spacer.
Fully laden boot, two kids in the back, and about 70kg in the roofbox.
No rubby dubby. :D
