it depends how you define 'car club', really.
We are a group of like-minded enthusiasts, but we're not incorporated or registered as a club

Can we tho? I mean some of us users have paid contributions, wouldnt that at least be something (although we already know that the monies are going towards the upkeep of the site)
Are we legally allowed to get banners made up etc? Or is that up to the admins to decide?

I would really like for us to register us a club. I wonder how we can get this done.

Why?
Generally it means it'd have to be set up legally, and fees paid, and a committee elected, write up a constitution and that sort of stuff, as far as i'm aware.

there isnt much benefit to incorporating unless you want to be cams affiliated.
and the majority of people here either A) dont race their car, or B) race them, and are already involved in cams affiliated clubs.
also, incorporation costs money, $212 ASIC rego, + accounting costs every year, + costs for keeping records etc.

It also means that any event would need some sort of personal liability insurance. When I organised cruises or get togethers for MCCA I did it as me and invited the club members.

believe me ... you don't want to have anything to do with personal liability insurance for a club ... especially when it involves vehicles of any kind
I was in a local jetski club and it decided that it was better to disband the club and be a group of likeminded enthusiasts than pay $25000 per year
... and you have to remember that, if a couple of members of the club decided to go for a cruise and were identifiable as such, anyone who decides to hook up with them could sue them and the club in the event of an accident/collision/screw up/spilt cup of coffee
