Can any body give me a heads up on how to open up rear calliper to change my rear pads/shoes
There are the two size 14mm bolds holding on at the bracket - i dont need to touch these do i?
There is that One i think its a 13mm or a 12mm under the rubber cap with the pointy bit of rubber, on the lower side. Is this the bolt i need to remove so it opens up?? can it open up?? in a rainbow motion ("am i making sense")
Also will i need to undo the handbrake cable to push the piston back in side, well level with the rubber?? Some advice would be most greatly appreacieated. i kinda need to get them done first thing in the morning so i can pick my missus up at moment i got no brakes :p

On the back of the caliper is a 14mm bolt, under the bolt is a hex key that will pull the piston back.

I've got these threads saved for whenever I get around to doing my BA:

All three have some decent pictures/info, might have to scroll down on some.

ok, followed the guides yesterday/today, and got them fitted reasonably easy... the second one took about 1/10 of the time of the first!!!!
undo that hex screw and life will be soo much easier.. .thought i could get away without undoing it.
but ive got a question.
ive installed the HBX? pads from one of the guys on here... and they slightly scrape constantly... will this go away in a few k's or is there something wrong?
im thinking incorrect springs holding the pads apart? where do i source stronger ones?
thanks guys
Ryan
if its short, repetitive scrapes ( kinda like "chht chht chht chht chht chht" ) then the rotor has probably warped or has a hotspot. You can test for it by rotating the wheel by hand ( up on a stand or jack ) and the noise should come at the same spot on the rotor each time.
A local brake shop should be able to machine them on the car for you. In melb there is mobile brake machining - where a guy comes to you and does it on the car at your home / work. I presume Brissy would have them too.

thanks, thats what i thought at first but its a constant scrape with perhaps a slight increase in drag at one point (i.e. warped rotor). i will drive a few k's and see if they get themselves inline - if not its on its first trip to the mechanic... got 3 days until my P plates license :D

if its warped it won't fix itself, time to get them machined (or replaced)
