Hi there i am from the fordlaser.com forums and i drive a nice little ford laser KF 1.8 DOHC (motor is droped in from a TX3 used to be a 1.6carbi) well been doing a little research and playing around with some parts from a wreckers which has alot of bg astinas what i am thinking of doing is putting the astina dashboard in the ford laser since i have noticed alot of the panels are EXACTLY the same like rear half of the center console and the panel under the sterring wheel glove box and the panels ether side of the glove box
i am also putting the rear seats and front seats into the car since straigh bolt in fit i am yet to see if the door trims fit straight on question there i am about to install power windows and the astina BG door trims that i am getting are manual and i have seen that most of the door trim is plasic so what i would like to know is there astina BG power window door trims? or is there a little cap i could put in there so its covered over???

what i would also like to try later down the track is to put the astina head lights front quarter panels and front bumper onto the laser since from what i can see the size is all the same except maybe the radiator surport panel not sure but any way just get me to shut up now

well if any one wants to help or have parts they can lend or know any info which would help please pass this way i am from melbourne

just like any pictures of dash boards or the engine bay like the front ect

Great help guys.

Power window door trims - u need the door trim from the BG SP rather than the base car. Have you got all the parts already? Coz if not, i would be better to take the seats from SP as well, much more supportive with arguably nicer trim fabric choice/ colour. I really don't know anything about Laser so can't help with fitting sorry.
Good luck with it.

^^^ This pic not very good, but power window control is located in drivers door handle, same as one on passenger side. Door trim is same as the seat trim in this pic. Sorry, couldn't find better pics in the short time i have!

If you can get hold of interior pieces from the Jap market Eunos 100 (think that's what it's called) which was a BG Astina with leather SP seats and leather inserts on the door trim plus other little luxuries that would be very different. I know some wreckers here in Australia (Adelaide Jap for example) have these bits or can get them.

The SP seats were also used in the Familia GTX/GTR so there's another place to look. The standard BG 323/Astina seats are nowhere near as good as the SP versions.

As Brad has said the power window door trims have the control located in the door handle for the front, and they are in pretty much the same place as the winder hole on the rear trims. The drivers side has all four window controls, passenger has same sized control but with only one switch.

As a point of interest seeing you are talking about swapping dashes etc, The BG Astina dash is shared with the Eunos 30X/MX-3 and the Laser uses the same dash as the regular 323/Familia. As you have figured out, all the mounting points etc are the same. Might be worth checking out if you can adapt any interior bits from the Eunos 30X/MX-3 too.

If you want any photos of various bits let me know and I'll take some for you. I agree with the guys above who are saying just get an Astina though! If your Laser is an Aussie build (think the KFs were) you'll notice a step up in fit and finish if you grab an Astina, the guys in Hiroshima know how to screw a car together! Incidentally the Aussie TX-3s were assembled there too...

Hope this helps you out.
