hi, currently on my mazda familia sp20, i have 17inch alloys that have low profile tyres on them, i went to get full or normal tyres you could say on them but they couldnt put them on cause it would screw up the speedo( e.g going 100km/h would actually be 120km/h) im just curious as to if i got new alloys maybe 18inch ones if they would be able to accept full/normal tyres and not low profiles or if my car can even accept 18inch tyres. or would i have to downsize to 16s please help

thanks

Easy answer going to 18's would require even a lower profile again plus going to a normal 60 series tyre on the 17"s they wouldnt clear the strut towers, this is the reason why going to 17"s is to go lower profile to make cornering a lot more fun. Yes you pay the price for ride quality but even with standard wheels and tyres there isnt a big diffence anyway.Rolling diameter tyres for the 17" should be 215 x 40 x 17 for the SP20 18" is 225 x 35 x 18

You basically need to go to 16" to put higher profile tyres on, 18" will just be worse again.
