Well I suppose I should get off my butt and do something about this.....

*social director strikes again*

Because Aaron and I are leaving mid December for long awaited and long overdue holiday (no holiday for Aaron, he gets to meet my MOTHER) I was hoping to plan something for early December.....

How say the crowd?

I will put up a poll for a date preference ie/ Saturday 6th or Sunday 7th December.

Feel free to post IDEAS for what you would like to do for the day.

I will then do another poll on what people have suggested and get the crowd preference.

So here goes the first one.

Which day suits you best?

Vote away AstinaGT!!!!!

:D

Either weekend b4 or after is better for me.

ABC

Should probably put a closing date on the poll as its only 3 and a bit weeks away and knowing this bunch we'll be at it for ages debating the pros and cons.

As for what we could do..... how about Canberra people meet in the morning, drive down to Batemans' Bay and up the coast to Nowra. Sydney people mosey down to meet up in Nowra picking up gong-people along the way. Then we all have a big BBQ, blat up Kangaroo Valley and afternoon tea and scones in Berima or Moss Vale then split at the Highway and go north/south respectively for an easy cruise home?

Doesn't really cater for the Vics but they live in Mexico so its their own damn fault!

That is a fantastic idea Andy!!!!!
Any idea how long it will take? Maps etc? Not being a Canberran native/local/resident for long enough, I don't have enough local knowledge to know much about this Will we be back in time for a BBQ outside your famous yacht club? Or is it City Club for dinner, LOL!!!!!

As for it being a bad weekend for you Jim, sorry mate, I knew it wouldn't be good for everyone, and I had to make a D pretty quick. My dreaded diary is just about full too. I wish I could do something to make sure you would be there......
*has a brain fart trying to mentally cancel all your parties that weekend*
nope, my esp aint working!
and I was going to offer to bring you fireworks, LOL... or even that red number from the Pr0n shop...... oh santa?????

Dan ~ Futon is booked in your name!
It "might" even be in a bedroom by then... no promises, LOL!

*note to self to get the kiddies wading pool for the courtyard*

Where is our fearless leader.... Tony??????
You have to be there of course!!

There's always a BBQ at my place

Leanne? Want some champagne again? Say yes!!!!!!!

Let's get it all happening!

Its a fair drive...
Canberra - Nowra is 3.5-4 hours though we can stop for a coffee in Batemans Bay
Sydney - Nowra depends on where your coming from but I would guess its about 1.5-2 hours from Sutherland Shire???

Moss Vale at the top of Kangaroo Valley is about 1:45 from Canberra along the highway at 120 and about 45 minutes to an hour to the end of the M5 heading north.

It might be just far enough north to convince the central coasters and Novocastrians to make the trip??

JynX
12-11-2003, 03:55 PM
2hrs to nowra from sutho shire is a nice easy drive. Much better chance making the Sunday then the Sat.

14-11-2003, 02:14 PM
ok, this is a poor turnout once again....

A grand total of 6 votes???????

Andy, your grand trip might not be a goer with this few people.......

Other options include:

1.) Meet up in Wollongong for a Gathering
2.) Gather in somewhere between Sydney and Canberra that is totally different and somewhere we haven't been before.
3.) Meet up in Sydney and do AUSTRALIA'S WONDERLAND!!!!!
4.) Everyone come to Canberra again when the weather is a lot better.

I am sure that everyone, like myself, doesn't want to go traipsing all over the place for a mere handful of people.

This is getting a bit disappointing, so fire up that enthusiasm and
GET FRIGGIN' EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Lets be a Car Club, a real group of enthusiasts, I want to meet you people, I want to know who you are, and this time YOU will have to get off your butts and DO something about it.

If my ideas aren't what you want, then say so!!!
C'mon, be proactive and as Nike say: "Just Do It"

There is a CAA cruise to Bathurst on the 14th if anyone isn't all cruised out as well.

My pref is the sunday too. A run down to nowra way (maybe bbq @ sanctuary point or therabouts) and then back sounds like a treat. We could also go to Batemans bay... bit further.

Nice bends around Kiama and take the coast way to nowra by-passing berry. Very scenic.

I'm thinking along these lines......
What say if Sydney/mountains/Gong people meet in the Gong area, mebbe odd1's place........mebbe the Macca's.....whatever, and then go on down together from there.

from past experience, if we meet up earlier it takes longer to get places and there vis after all a ways to go. Also finding a spot to meet earlier that suits will be hard....Mal in the Shire, me in the mountains etc etc.

What we really need is some new faces at the event!
Particularly the SP20s....TDK, Zed, wiredone etc, I'm looking in your direction.

As Rod says, much as I enjoy the company of the regulars, as a car club we need growth and some level of commitment to that.

Off soapbox now....:)

if we went to batemans bay how many off you canberra guys/girls would come across an meet up with us

i think then we could come back up the coast to nowra up through kangaroo valley to robertson
if the canberra guys came up they could then head down the hume home the sydney guys could head up the hume to sydney i would go up to the picton rd exit then back down ousley home

Canberra to Ulladulla - Approx 200km - 2.5hr

Seems like Saturday is winning on the popularity stakes - except for Jynx :(
Kitty is keener for Saturday and it was her idea too.

I can blow off sailing on Sat. and go for a drive instead - will have had enough of it by then after two weekends solid so I'm good.
JJ is keener for Saturday as well so is a definate maybe.

Other Canberra people??? where are you?

OI Tony! you gonna come or what :?:

20-11-2003, 04:57 PM
hi guys the other reason i think saturday is best is because if something goes wrong with ur car there is still a day to fix it before work monday an i no a lot off you need ur car for work / to get there

ok lets make it saturday the 6th
are we going to have a bbq or just buy lunch we need to work out these things cause we mite need a portable bbq an every-one bring sumthing like sausages ,onions ,salad dishes ,bread , butter ,sauce

an bring ur own drink

or if we can get some defernate numbers off poeple going i could buy everything an every-one pay $5 a head just a guess if there is 20 poeple an it costs me $100 just figures in the air here guys

but i would need to no a week ahead

dfvadr
20-11-2003, 05:00 PM
oh sorry forgot i dont have a portable bbq sum -one else will have to come good just incase we cant get one in a park at ulladulla

kar10w
20-11-2003, 06:00 PM
if saturday, then i'm in. don't mind bbq, but it's pretty easy to just buy some food down there and bring to the beach/park. saves trouble organising food and drink, and having food fly side to side as we drive down (or up). that's just my 2c.

that said, i'm cool with bbq too :).

We can set a meet point at loftus oval for sydney people. There will be me, dazz prob, critter, karlow, wiredone and maybe some more coming from sydney with sikastina and odd12c picking up at the gong so we should see at least 7-8 cars heading down to ulladulla from sydney way

At Ulladulla, we could all meet up at the Visitor Information Centre, its right off Princes Hwy and pretty central to everything else.

ABC

Yeah, I sent a PM to a just about everyone who said they were from Canberra or Sydney yesterday so that should give us a few more numbers hopefully.

So,
Saturday 6th of December it is then.

Standard Canberra Meeting place is the Shell Gateway servo at Exhibition Park. Say, meet there at 7:30am, leave at 8:00 sharp which should get us to Ulladulla at about 10:30-11:00 allowing for a break perhaps.
If we meet there then Tony can at least get his sorry ass out of bed and come and say hello.

Hey KittyKat - Where you at girl???

Hey everyone,

I'd like to come but i'm only on my red P's so i would have to cruise at 90km-100km/h all the way which is crap. So i would loose all of you on the way. So i don't think i should go as i'd get lost somewhere lol.

Those coming from the Sydney area will have an early start too.

I am going to suggest we meet at the Mt Annan Maccas at 7.45am to leave 8am.
It is the top of the freeway more or less at Campbelltown so simple access to the freeway so we can keep peeps together relatively easily.

Had previously suggested to a couple of people 9am but going on the ACT people timing to get to Ulladulla at 10.30-ish, 8am it will have to be I reckon.

It IS an early start but this is only once a year.....
More than happy to listen to other suggestions. :)

i will meet up... probabl have trouble getting to mnt annan maccas to meet critter, but he came down to the workshop today for a chat and all seems to be fine... if anyone is on the north shore it would make it easier to get lost on the way to cabramatta with two cars than on your own so we could meet before hand...

Hey I'm back!!!!!!!

Looks like you are all getting yourselves organised, and it's fantastic!!!

Great work everyone, you make a Kitty proud!

Can someone find route maps and post them up so that everyone can print them off and know where they are going if they get separated?

As for speeding and P Platers and stuff like that.
I for one don't condone speeding.
I like my license intact, and there is no reason not to enjoy a cruise and comradeship at the speed limit or thereabouts without acting like a ********.

For the food thing, to be honest, I would suggest we find a local establishment with a nice beer garden to sit in. A BBQ is all well and good, and a mighty thanks to Rod for offering to do all the hard work, but why not take advantage of local eateries? The thing I have found with BBQ's is that either everyone brings their own stuff and that way they can't complain about it, or we go where everyone can buy what they want, and then no one can complain.

Now, last but not least.......
Check your insurance paperwork! Yes I am serious.
Some insurance companies won't cover you for accidents (even if you aren't at fault) on motor enthusiast cruise events. Now we aren't an official club or anything like that, but please..... we have all heard the saying "Cover Your Ass" so in this instance it might be a good idea to check what your insurance company does and doesn't cover.

Be sure to bring bug spray, sunscreen and comfy picnic blankets.

I am really looking forward to this!

Well done to Andy for sending out PM's to all the Canberra based members.
Anyone going to do the same for members in your local area?

Keep up the enthusiasm everyone, and it will be a top day for everyone!!!!

Cheers!

Most Insurance companies have a clause which states :
That they may REFUSE a claim if your car was being used for events relating to a motor vehicle club, bash or charity event. (unless u tell them and they agreed to cover it.) Events such as motor shows, or car club track event days would fit into this category.

As far as im concerned, im just meeting up with a few mates at Ulladulla
And it just so happens we driving up together. So I tend to think we would quite safe IF an incident occurs.

But, it was a very good issue/warning to raise up Kitty…

Chris
24-11-2003, 04:15 PM
Hey,

Don't worry Kitty i won't be a ******** as you put it and speed, i will have to stick as close to 90 as possible and will print routes so i don't get lost and everyone else can cruise at normal speed. As for the insurance i would have never thought of checking something like that. so thanks. Hope to see you all there. An if you want routes from your houses to meeting points go to this site and fill in the information and it gives you all directions, street names, how many kms and minutes and colour map. All free. http://www.nowwhereroute.com/RACQ/RoadTravelPlanner/Default.aspx

Hope that this helps.

So far sabrelli and kar10w and i are meeting at Mt Annan Maccas at 7.45 am to leave at 8.00 am, to get to odd12c's place at about 9am.
Meet the people coming from The Shire (Loftus) meeting point there.

Leave there about 9.30 for the drive to Ulladulla (say 1hr 30 mins, a bit more mebbe. meet up with ACT cruisers there.

Feed where you get it from there, hang out, pub, picture opportunities, yada yada.

Interesting drive back via all manner of good roads.

That's about a short summary.

TDK, joely, join us at Mt Annan, buddies.

Meet at Mt Annan Maccas from Eastwood, icywong.
It is about an hour from my place too, TDK :)

"For those who aint sure how to get to Mt Annan Maccas :
Its on Waterworth Drive off Narellan Road...Theres a roundabout so its pretty easy to find"- sabrelli.

Basically it is along Narellan road east from where The Northern Rd finishes south of Oran Park and just before you join the freeway heading south from Campbelltown.
It means we get everyone together there and it is pretty easy rfrom there to keep everyone together on the way to odd12c's place.

It will be "follow me" from Mt Annan to Rod's, about an hour mainly highway driving.

Man, Rod's street is gonna be some sight at 9am Saturday.......

As ABC said, this sounds good to me... the only problem I can see is that my work Xmas party is the night before... and with $25 all you can drink, it could be hard work to get out of bed for such a ridiculously early hour....

I suppose you're right Kitty.
We don't really need to be down there until around 11-11:30 with some time to say hello and what not before lunch.
So we don't need to leave Canberra until around 8:30-9:00.

So if we say that we are leaving the Shell at 8:30 then we'll probably end up leaving somewhere closer to 9:00 which should get us there in plenty of time :D

Hi everyone. I am extremely sad to report that I will be unable to attend the cruise tomorrow. As most of you would know I am currently having a turbo installed, but unfortunately we have had some problems. As of today all the mechanical hardware has finally been installed, but we are now having problems with the computer. Wiredone has been a huge help and his company, Street Dreams, will be installing a new Haltech computer for me. I was really looking forward to giving my car a good run on Saturday as the turbo was supposed to be all done by Wednesday arvo.

Anyway, I hope you have a safe and fun time tomorrow.

Thanks,
TDK
