I don't see how anything could've happened to the grey R32 either, being 2m off the ground.

Well what a day.

The damage to everything is actually worse than I thought. Its not the water & mud that's the problem in destroying everything, its the volume of oil. Out the back of GT Auto Garage lies Sargent 4WD rentals servicing depot. They had a 6000lt oil tank for waste oil after servicing each truck and that whole thing washed through GT Auto Garage's workshop, office, carpark the whole shooting match. 17 cars in total were all but completely submerged.
We've been cleaning, degreasing, power washing all day. Walls, cars, workshop parts ect.

I never though i'd be degreasing & water blasting down Dave's 20BPP Capella in a million years but it had to be done, open trumpets and all. Everything's been underwater.
1 lucky Spirit R FD S6 was on the hoist as was an R32GTR worth a fair chunk. That Spirit R was the only car to drive out of there from 17 cars.

I really feel for the guys at GT Auto, this is their business and livelyhood. There is at LEAST month's worth of cleaning. The oil smell is insane, you wouldnt want to light a match.....or a cigarette for that matter as the whole complex would probably go up, im surprised the building hasnt been condemmed........yet.

We got the workshop floor and most of the walls back to a presentable point but that's about it. All parts & workshop equipment are still covered in the muddy oily sludge.

There's nothing really anyone could do, its all in hindsight.
Dave has some pics to post up later.

Thanks for all the kind words and offers but its only a car, there are people who have lost houses (or part of), daily commuter cars ect so I guess it could be worse. Im just pissed that its going to be many more months before I can get back out on the track.

Regards
Stu

They are all right offs. Insurance will pay for it all.

i'm assuming there will be 17 new fully ground up race cars built in the near future. :)

my heart sank when i saw these pictures, such a waste of amazing cars. specially when they are cars that have had ALOT of time and effort put into them. its so unfortunate to see these cars destroyed by the flooding.:(

ouch that makes baby jessus cry.. i wonder when these cars will go for sale by insurance :) (i know im a horrible person but if insurance pays for it and then they sell it they would go for next to nothing :D)

yeah they wouldnt sell for much but the only salvagable things would be the body and dravetrain i suppose because the engine, interior etc would be destroyed. it must be have been devistating for the owners of these cars.

yeah engines/bodies/drivetrains would be mostly salvagable.

interiors, audio, electronics would be pretty messed up

that depends as well if it wasnt turned on when when it went wet, it could be salvagable as well as per what matty said.. apart from any LCDs and the smell of course

from the fdrx7.com site

Just picked my car up from GT Auto Garage at Newmarket. They were completely raped in yesterday's flood. The water line on the buildings was just over a metre high. Most of their cars were write offs, and for those of you that know their RX7, you know how tragic this is.
I was lucky enough to be one of two cars up on hoists at the time, so my car is fine. I still feel terrible though.
This is a sad day.
