For fabric protection go down to the shops and buy two cans of Scotch Guard and unload them onto the fabric of your car, leave over night to feel safe that you've saved heaps and given your new interior better protection than the dealer offered. Follow the directions and test a small area first.
When I picked up a company car a few years ago and asked the dealer about paint protection I was told that modern (1997) paint didn't need additional protection. I occasionaly give mine a polish and more frequently a going over with the McGuires quick detail to keep it looking smart.
I also spent $550 recently to have the stone ships fixed  but for a '96 model I think it was money well spent.

Welcome SP:King...
I optioned up paint protection and tinted windows on my car from Mazda... i got both for $500. Paint protection is a load of crap, but the tints are great, plus, 10 year warranty on them.

the tint they offer you is the same as everywhere else
they contract it to a local tinter an charge u a little extra then if u got a quote urself
as for paint protection kyra hit the nail on the head its a load off crap an they tell you it last for years protecting bull**** it has to be done every tweelve months an that bit they dont tell you or you would not buy it
bassicaly it a frigin dear polish ur buying
spend a little extra on a good polish ect -mothers california gold an do that once or twice if its not garaged
an after a wash once a month use the showshine spray on wipe off

if the car is going to rust without it then maybe its not a very good car, unless u live by the sea and need protection from all the salt
