The US didn't get the Astina, but yeah it'll fit.

would that be a decent buy depending on shipping?

Shipping will probably be more than the engine!

$1498USD = $1872 AUD

That what they go for in oz, why pay the big shipping cost from the USA?

All BPTs are the same.

so is there no such thing as a "jdm" bpt? my point being if they are the same why call it jdm?

my understanding is they all came from japan....majority of BPT's, if not all, have been imported over here.

ford had bpts in their 4wd tx3, direct copy of bg8z familia.

They say JDM because they come from Japan - Japanese Domestic Market. All BPTs came from there - i think the TX-3 Turbos were fully imported from there as well.

i dont understand, why are any engines called AUSDM then, which engine is actually MADE here, which part is actually MADE in australia (apart from some bumpers and styling bits..)

some engines are only sold in specific markets. the most likely reason for engines being labelled certain DMs.

too much OT chatter, mods to split thread?

AUSDM because they may have variances specific to the Australian market - like the AUS TX3 BPTs had a different ECU to anywhere else in the world.

Not sure on the BPT's but, JDM or not, there are early & late model/series engines. The early BPT's were reported to have weaker rods whereas the later versions have stronger rods! evilist I think mentioned this. Worth being dilegent with ordering? egine may have different parts. Take the B6T Heads for example. My GT (AUSDM) has 2 extra head (ext side) bolts for manifold & different location for vac lines to rocker cover! Not a concern if you use whole engine but, the B6T I purchased in the GTX was I think a JDM Input, with 2 less ext head bolts & like I said, opposite location for vac lines etc.

All BPs incl BPTs have the same rods just a thing about the later model BPs they use a similar crank to a BPD, thats why I'm swaping over the rods on my BP for B6T ones. Later Model BP has a better crank and different oil pump. Just the has a stronger bottom end. Also the later model BPs use a different ECU and loom setup.
