ok peeps,
i have found a good deal on a set of super lows. brand new for 200 bucks.
what do people think, should i get them? the only thing im worrie about is the issues in the front with it being lower, (read below) and the legality of them...
when i got the rims engineered, there was an issue with the car being fully compressed and the tyre hitting the wheel arch. i got the guards rolled but it still hit it, not by much, but enough. the thing is it only hits on full lock and if the car was fully slammed down.
i have a custom set of bumpstops made up to stop this issue but they were taken out due to the issue of the car potentially bottoming out alot more due to bigger stoppers in there.
i know id have to ve doing something pretty crazy for the car to bottom out while on full lock, but it still kinda worries me....
has any other bj mazda guys had this issue?
i wanna go lower, thats a given, so my question is are super lows going to make it look hot, without looking too crazy for defects? i dont really wanna waste over 1k on coilovers, when s/l wil give me pretty much the same look for a lot less coin.... but what should i do?
thanks guys n girls.

I voted no cause you said ladies would be chasing after you, your engaged dude, your missus would kill ya for sure! :p
On a more serious note, no cause you will be borderline legal height wise (remember you do have a low slung kit on...) and that the lower you go, the more probs you will have in regards to scrubbing. It seems as though you are scrubbing out on full lock due to wrong offset on your rims.
my $0.02

hmmm... it doesnt bottom out anywhere yet, and the new front bar ive got is a lot higher. plus if the front bar is smaller than the sides i have now, im gonna put the sp20 ones back on and then mod the rear bar to match.
then ill have hardly any issues..... i hope! lol
plus, marc, you get buy the speedzone skirts off me! hahaha

I said no because I'm a sucker for the rules as I'm a chicken when it comes to getting in trouble with the law. I do love lowered cars though, but I'd stick with the legal height for legal reasons. Cops would LOVE you...

Dude your car looks great as it already is. Also keep in mind that when you're in it it should look a little lower just with your weight and any passengers you carry. Then there's all the issues it'd create with scrubbing, and with the law. I think your car needs some self-esteem or something, because it already looks fine!

i just broke the tie :p
i said yes, you want a show car and it really needs to go down the extra bit to make it look "right" when unloaded. to be honest airbags or coilovers are probably the better option but for $200..

You drop, the roll center will be in the center of the earth....I vote no, get BC coilovers or lovell springs and KYB shocks...
But if its more for show then go....go for it...

id say ure not going to get much help here, its a personal decision. but think about car scraping on sleeping policemen, carpark concrete things etc, not to mention risk from potholes and stone chips.

yeah but its pretty low atm, an i dont get any issues.... so i might just do it and if i get caught, raise it back with the springs i have now

difference between my car scraping EVERYWHERE and not at all on most normal places was my new tyres.. it lifted the car about 15mm and made all the difference.. so if ur getting thru ok now doesnt mean if u have 4 heavyset blokes in ur car it wont scrape, letalone if its anothr even 10mm lower...
if u are going for a showcar look, and have some backng financially, get a set of airbags and get them installed profesionally, with 3 settings, park setting(off deflated height, as low as possible) ride setting (whatever u want it to be) and the ability to go to the highest possible height to clear the bumps and what not.. this way u cant adjust your ride height to whatever you want to, just normal or up, and when its off to park mode.
i think that would be your best solution seriusly

I voted no because I have owned a really low car before (The now very rare 1988 323 4WD Turbo GTA-e) and found it really annoying to drive,
you couldn't back out of people driveways, it scraped over speed humps and the ride was nowhere as good as normal as no suspension travel left.
If you wanna see what its like lowered put 4 fat people in your car and a load of bricks in the boot and go for a drive.
But unless your planning on having a car you cant really drive any more go ahead and lower it.
Just don't complain on here when you accidentally damage your front bar.

My car is not even that low and I sometime scrape the front bumper. Got in trouble for doing it the other day.. but it was a crap driveway, I had four people in the car and the lights were red and just couldn't be avoided :o
I couldn't handle it any lower than it is.. where it is now with Kings is annoying! lol.

i said do it.
i think you've already made up your mind, so why not go ahead.
if your not worried about shock absorber life, or the camber you're gonna run as you go lower and don't mind a rough ride - and are doing it purely for looks..., then yeah there's no issues there.
If its not going to be a daily car just slam the hell out of it and dont worry about the above mentioned things. If the car is going to be a show car like u seem to be aiming at, it will haveta be low. My daily car is currently tucking 20 rims, so im sure you could definately do it on something that is not a daily driven car and is going to be driven for special occasions and shows. the ride does not automatically get rough, this seems to be a common misconception as i have two lowered cars and they are both quite comfortable regarding ride quality.
