I'd have to go with the magna if it was uphill, would be more even downhill

magnas are cows il go with the astina purely for the handling aspect of it..

astina easily... magnas are giant sedans...there massive engine capacity with small amount of cyclinders make it slow...

The one with the better driver...

The one with the better tyres...

The one with the better brakes...

The one with the better suspension...

In that order. It's a pretty open (and pointless) question.

Hadn't Magnas long gone to the standard 3.5L V6 prior to the release of the AWD model?

The TJ Sport & VR-X wasn't [that] gay! :D

ralliyart magnas (awd ones) will whop it hands down.. point being that no matter how fast it is in a straight (the non awd one) it steers like a container ship. my mate has one and they go decently for a huge car, but he cant turn it around in a suburban street in less that 5 moves.. taking a corner is horible due to the body roll etc.
both stock (in new shape), both having same experience drivers i still say astina will win purely cus it can take a corner a hell of a lot better than a magna, remembering we are talking bout twisity roads

BA hands down... has anyone who's saying 'magna' actually driven a magna?

Astina would destroy it!

How about an Aurion Sportivo 3.5L V6? I've driven one of these, and they are very fun. :D They don't feel like a big car at all, and you can throw them around for a good time.

well the question stands that a guy reckons spending money on my car is a waste, and that his magna (stock fwd 3.5 v6 but may be 3l) would kill my car.

on the straight i would agree but my logic says in the corners his extra weight and low end torque will cause understeer quicker and wear brakes quicker. as well as that i think my astina would handle better and corner quicker. so in a race through the twisties (down hill and uphill say equal both) his car may accelerate out of corners quicker, but my car will have a higher entry speed and be able to have a higher speed between corners as well.

true,
i just hate people who know nothing about cars ragging on others cars. i have several mates who have changed there minds completely once they have ridden in my car, i even have a mate looking for an astina now (his father objects due to its reputation as a girls car) the mate with the magna has never seen my astina moving.

however this post was about checking my logic and seeing others opinions on how the astina's fare against other cars. to keep me from being bias. ive only driven my astina, a vr commodore and an suzuki baleno so i don't really have much opinion as to how good it is. (but it craps all over the commie in the corners, shame it doesn't have the fun in the straights, and sideways)

lol i got payed out about the astina when i got it, mainly the girls car remark.. i took it on the chin, laughed and when i took them for a spin and outmanuverd my mates 318i (e36) with jaws droping might i add, i stoped geting it haha.. once it gets a turbo it will go fast forwards as well :p

I'd still put the money on the Magna, especially uphill, you'd never make the extra corner speed needed to hold off the 3L. A half decent driver would just power past on the exit. Downhill, more even but the power would allow the Magna to just eat you up on the exit and any straight.

That said it'd be a lot more fun in the astina

Tony, same deal with mine, friend of mine told me it should be pink, so i made her come for a ride through some bush streets near me. She now refuses to get in the car and hasn't made any girly cars joke :)

That's not really a measure of anything. THIS 1.6L FWD (http://www.fiestar2.com/) would make either the BA or Magna (and most WRXs) look stupid...

Conversely a 3L AWD V6 Pajero isn't going to set the world alight either...
