Budget Direct are pretty good and are hard to beat on price. My work mate was quoted $750 or there abouts for his Max Sport Mazda 3......around $450 less than the competition....and yes he was under 25 at the time.

I've done Roadcraft, but i don't think RACQ recognizes that as a registered course yet

They dont.

Only insurance company im aware of that discounts your premium if you do a course is AAMI...

So looking for a better deal if there is one...97 BA hatch, insured with AAMI btw :)i think you need to find a new insurer. no good paying 20% of the cars valve each year in insurance.

try JustCar if it is moded, or NRMA if it is stock.

You could try www.iselect.com.au/car/ they have a new section for car insurance and you can compare different car insurance (http://www.iselect.com.au/car/) companies I think.

im paying $102 a month so $1220 a year...yes thats alot...but my car is insured for $29,000...ohh and im on rating 1 and just about 23years old...

to be honest with car insurance you get what you pay for...dont always go for the cheapest price...you may be missing out on more with the cheaper ones...

i tried iselect...cheapest i could get was $1600, which is just rediculous. So i just convinced mum she should pay half of the $1100 and renewed it with aami :). Cant wait till im 25!

wont make any difference if your 25 or not in the price of insurance...it matters on what rating you are...

only difference of you being 25 or not is if you get in the accident on the excess...your excess is higher if under 25 and lower if over 25...

so do you get a rating with it in your mums name? or is she the one getting the rating advances?

pffft no because most companies iv spoken to would not insure for a agreed value thats twice that of the car, no matter what it has in it..
im happy to pay that much instead of 800 for a 21yr old for 7K-8K tops..

if your even a partial driver i think you still get a rating dont you?not always, unless you are the main driver, you may not have a rating.

i have a friend who used his mum as the main insurer, he was just listed as a 2nd driver. 4 years later, he was still a rating 6.

baha 1100 i pay that much and my car is insured for ~15k (im 21)$15K, good luck trying to get that out of them if it is written off. market value for them is $5,500. plus your mods. which to insurance companies means nothing to them.

---

i pay $635 for mine. it is due this coming november. depending on how much justcar raises the premium, i might go back to only fire+theft. it's worth $5K, i've paid $1900 in insurance in the past 3 years. more than the cost of any repairs to my car in those 3 years.

but then again, you gotta be paying insurance for you raiting to get better. so maybe paying the high premiums early in life is worth it later on in life. pay more now, save more later.

As of last year it was just my sound system. I've now got a pod filter.

Next quote up was $650 so $479 was great value to me.

Im 34 and pay $62 a month thru Suncorp. I have 18 years no claims bonus.
Its not a good idea insuring your car under your mums name because if the insurance company finds out its your car and you drive it most of the time they can deny your claim.
I have heard of insurance companies sending investigators to talk to your neighbours.
You are also not building your own no claims bonus even if you are a listed driver with most insurance companies.

AHH, certain cars will not be insured for under 25 drivers,
no insurance company as willing to insure the bmw z3 for me, monaro is the same boat, but this may be cause id be a secondary driver on mums fully comp policy.
