paint work looks really good! :D But have to ask, why have you only shaved the rear door handles? IMO would flow a lot better with all them shaved, but with a paintjob like that, dont see that happening :p
Also twin cannon's dont do it for me, would look better with a single muffler with upswept tips ;)

Well, I am a fan of the bonnet. I think that its simple but prominent without being too overbearing. Is it a custom one-off job?
The black and silver of the rims goes with the grape-ish colour of the car, but the rims are quite common though.

Its a A/M R33 bonnet cut and shaped to size...
Dude this Astina is awesome, looks really nice, keep up the hard work...
I recon you should relocate that battery to the boot when you move the wiring...heaps more room and nicer to look at...

and as for the wheels i love them man, look very nice. there are a few of those up here but mainly on comodores..
i know what u mean about the poppers failing.. that idea scared me as well. my plan was to weld the rear doors shut and give the car a brazilian. might still do some of them when i get some finances lol. i thought about having a cable (sleeved) fed in to the boot, so if the poppers do fail, u can pull it open the drives door... this idea clashed with my shaving of the rear boot pannel and relocating the reversing lights idea... LOL
also fuk me if this is still a work in progress, by the time u finish u will have one of the best, craziest BAs (well cars ingeneral) around
good luck and more pics of the car under the sun so that we can appreciate this beutifull paint (props 2 ur dad) :D

I decided I wanted a custom bonnet to beef up the front end of my little Mazda, but as well know too well parts like this are not available off the shelf so I went and bought a Nissan Skyline R33 fibreglass vented bonnet and cut it down to size and grafted it into the stock BA Bonnet.

Hey Guys,
I took the Astina out for abit of a run at WSID last night for the first time, I had an absolute blast.
I had a few issues getting traction in 1st and 2nd gear, although I was suprised by its topend power. On my second run I had an problem come up where the electrical plug on one of the injectors kept coming off so we pulled out the trusty cable ties and got that sorted out. In the end I was a little disappointed with the times it was running but I put it down to having a first timer behind the wheel! Seems to have the potential and power there tho.
these are a few crappy Iphone pics I took while waiting out the back to race, notice the Familia GTR in the background, this was a very nice little machine, I beleive it was running in the 12's. I rekon the car looks pretty tough with the gunmetal 16's on it.

I'm abit disappointed about the number of responses the guys from the forums are receiving for their project worklogs, I know some people dont like open discussion on their car but i'm happy to have a chat about it/answer questions and all that goes with it.
I feel like there are too many lurkers who r happy to view but not comment and put in their 2 cents in on the topic or commend car owner's on their work. I'm probably abit of a critic because I know I did abit of it in my early years on here etc.
Just looking at stats for worklogs:

I think mine was a 14.2 or 14.3, but i suck at drag starts. I haven't been back to the track in years - i must sometime soon.
13s aren't far off at all. Lower pressures and grippy tyres will get you there - and practice.

What rpm were you letting it go at out of the hole? tyre pressures & practise will also get you in the 13's ;)

well i love your car dc! while id never have something similar - money is partly the fault there -but i like the airbrushing, its a bit out-there and different, same with the bonnet. all up it looks great and would love to see it in person! doubt my project page would have any views -just becuase i never made one... besides, who wants to watch me swap a stock engine with another one or whatnot lol... anyway keep up the good work and :)

Caught me out, I read all the project worklogs fairly frequently but rarely post. Most of the time I feel I don't really have anything particularly meaningful to add, especially given that the mods I've given my car have been minimal or delayed. I'm always keen to answer subjective questions though, like "what do you guys think about this colour" etc.
OT: I don't know much about drag racing but I know that a 14 second run is pretty respectable, especially considering a stock BA runs what, 17 or so? The power gains needed to knock a second off your time rise exponentially and you're clearly new to it, so stick with it and with practice you'll be getting 13s for sure. Just being at the track is ahead of most people.

yeah...never been but one day I'll get there! btw the engine was pretty annoying..different model totally so one by one replaced the accessories after it was in sigh... then fuel went everywhere, then timing was out LOL... anyway...that's a whole different topic :P

man thats pretty damn good. i was watching a show about some guys in nz doing up a vtec crx. they bored it out to almost 2L (the b16 lol) turbo n sht and they did it to prov ethat a done up car will waste a car 10x its price and they did they smoked everything xcept a vspec gtr34 and it ran 13.7 consistantly against all cars. that 34 ran a 13.1 oe 12.1 i cant remember but it had over 600ponies at 4wheels... show was called something something overboost lol it was on discovery turbo and they repeated it 2 times since lol
i do agree with what mussing said regarding lurking, most of the time i have nothng meaninful to say. i mean my threads ratio is horrible as well lol
as for your car man ur dad did a very good job with that brushing. i kow how crap the photoes come up with the iphone and it still looks amazing. and seeing it whole outside with a very contrasting background the hood looks the part on it 100% absolutly love that car man. i want a carmate bumber, but the one with no indicator holes :D just would LOVE to see it b4 i buy it lol ur lucky living closer to them than me haha/ the proton wheels suit it as well :D if u want to shave a bit of ur time, get as fat tyres as u can afford up front, as skinny tyres as u dare on the rear, strip ur back seat out of the car and leave ur spare tyre with ur friend on the sidelines haha. that will shave about 40kg and the tyres will give u more grip and rears less roling resistance. looking forward to improvements :D

OT: Car is looking good and congrats on the times. When my cousin first started drags in his supra he got high 14 but with practice got it down to mid 13's and now runs high 12's with some more mods. It's all about practice.

If you do change your head to NA may pay you to use the turbo cams from BPT head? You prolly know this anyway. Just extra work to consider :o

Everyone that has done the n/a head swap still used the original bpt cams.
IF doing that, you might as well pull the whole engine and do a full pro rebuild.
