he replied with "it's 1.8 injected"

depends on what model it is,

SP = DOHC
Regular 323 = SOHC

if the engine number is BP244929 .
then it would be a BP motor,
which would make it a 1.8 DOCH.
easy way to tell, is to click on the link in my sig. to the project thread.
then go to the first post, and the second picture is the 1.8 DOCH.
if it doesn't look like that, then its a SOCH.

EDIT: sorry, just realised that you haven't actually seen the car/motor at all.
so that won't help much.
but, if the engine number is BP******. then it should be the BP motor,
which like i said before, is the 1.8 DOCH.

yeah i see what you are writing but all the BG10P1 says is that its a pre feb91 astina.. both SP and nonsp have BG10P1 for pre 91..

I think you'll find the BP SOCH still has a BP engine number...as the blocks are identical.

So the only way for the seller to answer you is: Does the engine have the spark plugs in the muddle of the cam cover in a valley (BP DOHC), or are they at the front of the engine above the exhaust manifold (BP SOHC)?

i did realise about the BP10P1 and what it meant after i had already replied, but i didn't realise that the SOCH also came under the BP engine number aswell.

No sunroof and no fast glass meens it isn't an SP.
Only SPs came DOHC from the factory... If it were a grey import it would have a BGxx chassis number...
Reminds me of the sceen in Inital D where Iggi is being payed out on for buying an AE85 Levin not an AE86 Levin. ROTFLMAO

still could be DOHC if someone has done a conversion but i doubt it...not many people do it...also doesnt matter on the sunroof as some non SPs come out with sunroofs
