hi guys and gals
ba94 1.8lt hatch :D
:? this is hard to explain but i get and occassional clunk sound from the left hand side suspension or body of the car. it happens when i go over speed humps when the front wheels pass the far side of the speed hump, it happens in other situations but when turning right but the sound never happens when it is light bump. hope someone might be able to help or has had it happen to them.......it was there when i got the car (stock with 25000ks 6yrs old) it is now 9yrs old with 60000ks and i have just about had enough of hearing it...... any sugestion would be looked into
thanks shane :P

It's Koni time
Sounds a little like your shock is gone, take advantage of the pedders $14 check to find out but think carefully about your options.
Many of us astiaites have explored different options with suspension, it's not cheap but the extra $$$ pay for them selves in the long run, ie Koni and Bilstien cost more but can be re-built time and time again.
KYB - good option (a little hard for my liking).
Koni - adjustable dampening.
Bilstien - top of the range, and you pay for that.
Pedders - well their cheap
Also think about lowering the car at the same time (saves on labour costs) again many options:
King Springs - that is what I settled on.
Whiteline - Many astiaites have them and are happy with them.
Pedders - well their cheap
These are only a few options but a start.

you could add Kmac springs and monroe shocks to that list as well

Agree with everything above except I have had a clunk in the left front
from Day1. Mazda and Whiteline went over everything and cant work it out.
Could be same for you.

maybe someone should invent a system of knock sensors and tiny video cameras too see what goes on in there when the car is on the roads.
either that or a dyno that lets you turn while driving.
do you feel the bump or just hear it ? I'd want to feel a bump before i thought it was shocks/springs.

Ask anybody who has been in my car. Hit a hard bump on the left
and get a bad clunk sound like the springs are falling out or something.
Had everything checked and cannot find and that was on a hoist you
wont really be able to test suspension on a dyno are you. That wont
really duplicate a bumpy road.

ahhh very true good point :)
i see ads on tv for Pedders suspension checks etc where they are 'bashing' the suspension up and down. that kind of thing i think might have better luck. But you may have already had that done too :?
