Need Help With Inverter Wiring

Hi,

I'm installing an inverter so that I can run a PS2 in my car. I will be connecting the (+) straight to the battery. My question is in regards to the (-) cable. Do I have to connect the input (-) cable to the battery as well, or can I just connect it to the chassis. The Earth of the output is connected to the case of the inverter, which has a knob on the exterior of the case to connect it to the chassis.

So, can I just connect the input (-) cable to the chassis or does it have to be connected to the battery?

to the chassis should be fine. be sure to add a fuse to the +ve tho :)
