Hey Guys,
I have been in melbourne the past two weeks and just got back today.
Unfortunately on Sunday afternoon at 2:45pm on the cnr of Kings St. and Little Bourke Lane I t-boned a silver top taxi. I approached the intersection at about 50km/hr and failed to see the traffic lights at an acceptable distance. I saw the traffic lights at the last moment as they were amber and hit the brakes and sliding through the intersection into the taxi. This was caused due to it not raining in melbourne for 2-3weeks and the roads being extremely slippery. I tried everything to stop but unfortunately my car is fully optioned besides ABS brakes. The airbags went off and its the most disgusting thing ever. They gashed open my neck and arm and also blew my hand into the window and bruising both my fingers. Besides that i am in good health. It is debatable whether the airbags saved my from injury but what is done is done. The taxi driver was some dodgy greek guy and we suspect he pre-empted the green light thus putting him in the intersection when he shouldnt be but according to the police no matter what it is my fault because I was in the intersection during a red light.
The car was fully insured and a complete writeoff due to the $6000 airbags and $10000 front end damage. I had an agreed value on the car for $14000 so I now am in the market for a new car. I am completely open to ideas and could spend up to $20k but would prefer not too.
Dude thats some bad news. Good to see you are ok (even if your astina attempted to eat you). Hopefully we will see you back in an Astina soon. Wot is it with Astina's hitting silver things???? Anyway hope your battle scars heal quickly and you are our terrorising the roads again soon
Damn - that's really bad luck mate.
At least you're still in one piece though so that's good in a way - could have turned out a whole lot worse if it was the trailer of a semi or something.
I guess you won't be needing that CAI pipe that I made up for you then?

Bummer Tony, good to hear you got out (relativley) unscathed. What is it with Astina accidents just lately? Has our little gremlin returned or something?
My sister is selling her 92 Astina, green, under/just over 100,000 (I think) if you're interested. She's buggering off to sunny England
I don't think I'll be driving my car for a while until these accidents stop. :| :|

98 model???
sheesh mate it's 6 years old already!!!!
get something NEW!!!!!
Haven't logged in for ages...
Damn Tony...you too! Not a good year for us guys :)
Has your insurance come through yet? I'm still waiting for mine, hopefully this week I'll get something.
Glad to hear you got away relatively unscathed, sounds like the airbags did more damage than anything else. Decided what car to buy? I'm torn between cheap and cheerful or $$$, can't decide at the moment! Had a drive of a new SP23 on Saturday...mmmm
My family had one of those bongo vans as a rent-a-car in NZ once. Only thing i remember is theres a cig lighter for the very back seat ( it was good to plug my new discman into something for the drive around NZ )
