Has anyone dealt with these poeple before? Or even heard anything? Then make a nice little boost guage for the XR6T that I may feel like laying $400 down for.

Before I start saving the clams up I figure it's worthwhile finding out if they're shonky or not ;)

Yes folks this means another trip to Melb may well happen at some point!

whats so special abt the boost guage that its worth $400 ?? surely any boost guage should do, and u can just run it to a vacuum line.

Not if the second last place was Ballarat or Afganastan

*grins* Glad you asked why I am thinking about $400 on the thing....

What better way than to describe a Pic ;)

This is how the guage looks. Yes it's only 10psi, and quite frankly as the car runs 6psi stock, and if I ever do a littel tweaking I won't go above 9psi (about 280/290kw) ...

Here's where it sits int he car...

Looks good ;)

No worries about the ride - ABC, TwoJays I have to load you guys up one evening and go for a fly...

Looks good,
Not in direct line of site but better than mine

Does the $400 include the plastic cowl it sits in?

Yup... $395 for gauge and the trim piece that is a genuine Ford item (it houses a Clock on the Fairmont Ghia...) Hence part of the cost. The gusge lights up in blue to match the dash etc as well. It's not in the direct line of sigh but has to be one of the neatest non-factory installs I've seen.. At the moment there is factory guage...

Oh its $33 labour to fit and is a mechanical guage not electric which I'm not mega pleased with but hey if it fits nice then it's the best solution.

It does look good, as I said lots better than mine (in the passengers foot well). Being mechanical has its advantages, the series IV and V Rx-7 run through the ECU with a maximum of 6psi. A boost cut box will raise upto 10psi but the guage becomes inacurate and may as well not be there.
Mmmmm, may have to replace the Cosmo with an Efini and have young Ruperecht make me some guages with a re-calibrated boost guage :D

this beggs the question being a turbo off the shelf why didnt it come with a boost guage to begin with?

Why do you need a boost guage?? The ECU will limit boost even if it has to shut the engine down. Also ford would need to make an XR6 Turbo instrument cluster which adds to the overall cost of the car.

looks great !!
i cant see mechanical being a problem, i'd prefer that than electrical for coolness factor of seeing the needle jumping up and down. its just that little bit harder to install but hey its not hard !!

$400 hmmm its a lot for a boost guage, but its a nice one ! the other option would be to buy a mechanical guage, and rip it apart to get the needle etc out.
then have a print place print the facia ( like dan's astina guages ), and mount it inside the clock cluster. a bit more effort, but easier on the pocket :)

Yeah, I guess Afganastan isn't too bad, I spent 17 years in Ballarat...
