hey all, any advice as to where to run the power wire to the amp from the front of the car to the boot?
as my original plan was to run it straight through the middle a long with the other speaker wires, but i read somewhere here that the power wire and speaker wires shouldn't be running side by side, as it would case noise.
thats more in regards to the rca wires, not the speaker wires. speaker wires *can* handle it but rather try not to.
in my car, it runs down the centre console, but at the base of the rise, under the carpet ( take the console off, thread it thru the carpet, and push it down the walls of the rise
in the old car it ran down the passenger's side, again right at floor level, as other wires ran at door level.
r u using 4g or 8g wire ?

yeah that was my plan, the wiring plan also included the rcas.... i guess i'll haveto find an alternative route.
is it hard to run the wires along the passenger sidewall/floor?
i went for the 4g =)
not at all hard. u prise off the door sills , there are clips under that attach them to the chassis. - just be careful coz they can snap. i broke a few on my old plastic ones. possibly a good idea to run something flat under the sills and prise up from there, rather than just pull. a knife wrapped in tape ( so it doesnt scratch ) should do it.
once the sills are off u can see the edge of the carpet and the wires that already run along there. just push the 4g wire down to floor level.
then at the B pillar it gets a bit more difficult, u can take the b pillar trim off, or get the wire that far and then push it along until it comes out on the other side

hm.... then what abt the exsisting wires that r already there? will the 4g effect them?
ok I"ll give it a shot tomorrow hopefully
shouldnt do, and they're almost level with the door sill, whereas the 4g wire will be level with the floor

ok new dilema, how do i get new wire running into the front doors? i saw the rubber tube from the gap when u open the door and i though it was pretty big and would be easy to thread some wires down it.. but when i removed the trim to see the opening from the car, there is something blocking it... how do i remove it, and it's pretty hard to get to.
I"ll take some pics 2morrow

Where the door wires contact the body is one big plug (HA, HA).
Drill a hole above it on the body and then feed into the rubber tube to the door. Not as invisable as you wanted but thems the breaks.
Rod
sounds about right, i can mess about and get the plug out and run a wire through it, or do as Rod said. be careful when drilling tho !! the easier option is to run the wire thru where the door stopper arm connects to the body. theres a small hole there that, if ur using small wires, can be fairly safely used as long as u check the wire doesnt get crushed
