hay people just joined up my name is matt im 23 im a big fan of car's having owned too many to count.im a mechanic/auto elec and ive been around cars for a long long time. about three months ago me my mate and my brother just built a 1994 mazda astina 1.8l turbo from the ground up in my front yard for my brother. its the 1.8l bpt motor out of a gtx famila. this is what we did on a budget of $5000
bought the car 1994 red astina $200
rego the car first
bpt famila motor
changed loom and ecu
excidy clutch
front mount with custom piping
k/n pod with heat shield
2.5 inch exhaust from the turbo back with high flow cat
sard fuel pressure reg
catch can
new plugs leads oil/filter fuel filter
new shocks and lowerd springs front and back
replaced every bush in the front end with nolathane bushes
new tie rods ends and ball joints
reco drive shafts
17" jap dished chrome wheels with semi slicks upfront
and a few other things.
it was a suprise how easy this conversion was most of it was all bolt in stuff.
its still running stock boost and this car flys and my brother loves the car he has always been a v8 fan and owned a vr clubspot before the astina and he says the astina is more fun and it uses half the fuel. ive driven the car and i love it too bits. at the moment i drove a worked gti swift which i love but after seeing how easy this conversion was and how good it goes for the price im going to sell the gti buy an astina and do the bpt famila conversion and thought there might be a forum for mazda's and here i am hope to speak and meet up with some of you's soon as i know nothing about mazda's lol and carn't wait to learn about these grate cars
