Hey ppl,

This has been annoying me for a while now and I want it fixed !

It's a knock/rattle coming from the passenger side rear of the car when you go over ****ty bits of road... i have a ba with 17's on but is not lowered.

It's been on a hoist and everything seems okay underneath, so i'm thinking maybe it's in the top of the shock tower area or something???

Is there anything you guys have heard of, or have any ideas?

Thanks

Famous caliper rattle perhaps???

I am getting same rattle, and it apparently goes away when you change the brake pads.........

Just an idea for you to check out.

Good luck, and if you find out what it is, please post it, coz if mine isn't the caliper rattle, I will want it fixed before I sell the car.

Cheers

parcel shelf bouncing? I think mine is making a bit of a bumpy/knocky noise over some bumps?

Is it a V6 hatch with a towbar?
I remember ABC had something similar a while back (could be my imagination)

oh yeah, thanks Cosmo. The towbar bump is even less regular than the parcel shelf one!

The exhaust tips move just the tinyest bit over very sharp bumps and hit the towbar rail.

Got a towbar Sub?

This is the thread here.

The towbars appear to be made for the single pipe zorst and can rattle on the twin V6 pipes.

Umm how many rattles do I have.
1. Exhaust hitting tow strap on cornering on ****ty roads.
2. Rear parcel shelf bouncing or sometimes the tools in the
boot but thats drivers side.
3. Reverse clunk of brakes.
4. Passenger front suspension clunks bad over some bumps has been
there since 11km when I picked it up of course worse being 3" down.
Could be any of these or more just something to consider.

It can be a little full on but remove everything that isn't needed and if the rattle stops you can start putting things back in untill you isolate the problem, else by now you can get a torch into all the nooks and crannys and look for the problem.
