Hay I'm after a set of lowering springs for my sp20. I was also told to ask about ajustable rings for the springs to sit in like a coil over but using the standard damper, if that sounds right.

Ps I'm in the industry, trade rate would be awesome :P

dunno if collars are available for SP20s. but spending $300+ on springs and $300+ on collars.

i'd be puting that $600+ towards $1200 coilovers, and getting the real thing.

Looked on there website. What does GC125.64.75 (5/2.5"/425 lbs) mean. Only one I can figure out is the 2.5"

Ground
Control
125 Spring length in mm
64 Spring diameter in mm
75 Spring rate in N/m as XX = X.X

or

5 inch length
2.5 inch diameter
7.5N/m or 425lb/in or 7.7kg/cm (cannot remember if 1 kg/cm = 55 or 56 or 57lb/in)

We have lowered king springs, and if you wish to build a coilover utilising the original strut leg and new koni inserts.

Call one of the guys at our penrith store (02) 4721 2112

would the Ground Control springs be a much better option than lovells lows on standars shocks ?

sorry trent188,

can not comment on ground control springs and they quality.

I would recommend a king spring with koni's modified to fit in the standard struts.

This is what I will be doing shortly with my partner's sp20

x2

And will vastly outperform a cheap set of $1200 coilovers....

As their is no koni struts available as a complete replacement for our kj/bj 323 astina/protege, like their is for the mazda 3 etc.

What we do when we get your old struts complete
- take measurements prior to dissembly from spring seat to spring seat
- dissemble the strut.
- take measurements of shock length at full extension and full compressed
- cut the top of your shock, empty the gas and remove all the old shock components.
- take measurements of the id of the shocktube
- take into account whether we are using the same springs or new lowered springs

With all this info, our Koni technician researches whether there is a Koni insert, red (internally adjustable) or yellow (externally adjustable). 8 times out of 10, there is a Koni to suit.

In most cases, we weld a threaded collar on top of the shock tube to suit a glan nut.

This allows a couple of things.
- Fitting of the Koni insert inside the original tube.
- Being a screwed fitting, these can be removed quiet easily down the track for either rebuild or diy replacement.

In cases where lowered springs are used, like King Springs Superlow.
At full extension (eg. same as having your car lifted off the ground with a jack), the spring can be slightly untrapped

In cases such as these, our Koni Technician dissembles the shock and fits an internal limiter which allows the fitment of lowered springs to be tight at full extension.

After test fitment, we clean and repaint the strut and assemble.

I will be doing this exact install to my partners sp20. I will not be converting to a coilover as I intend to keep the King Springs that I already have.

I will take photos from start to finish and document this.
