Went to the beach for a swim on tuesday after work as I do on most hot days. Locked my car up (Glovebox, club lock, alarm etc) at about 430 and went for swim. 7pm comes feeling hungry get out of water and go to fetch my bag and towel... GONE!! run to the car park to search for my car fearing the worst... GONE my baby is GONE!! NOOOOO
all I have are the boardies I'm wearing and thats it.

Can't believe I was stupid enough to leave my keys on the beach.

Police found my car burning later that evening.

I'll post pics next week haven't seen my car yet. Guess I'm in the market now for V6 manual or SP20

sorry to hear bout your car. that sure does suck. hope next car brings better luck.
bit late now, but note4next time: get boardies with small pocket on leg for keys and leave central locking thing in car. that's most prob your best bet. that's what i do.

Thats pretty bad man! I dont want to know that feeling, were the police a bit sus cause the keys were still in the car? Normally they go right through the owner when that happens, looks like a setup! Definitly not saying it was but thats the best excuss ive heard yet to get a new car!

Don't wanna freak you out but the slime jobs who did this would've watched you lock your car, followed you and waited until you were in the water before, pretending to be you, collected all your stuff to get the keys to your ride.
They had a plan and they will repeat it, hint, hint.

P.S. photos would get them put in prison.

doood!!!!

i keep reading about people in accidents, but they can usually be fixed!!!
this sucks ass big time, hope insurance is friendly to ya!!1

oh yeah, i had a key cut that unlocks my car (BJ has transponder keys... not good when wet, thank god they supply 3 !!!)

the key attaches to my boardies, and i lock the normal keys (ie to start engine) in the glove box... its small security....

the cut key can only open the door, start car and then car stalls...

Insurance said it sounded like a setup cause there were people i knew at the beach that helped me out with a phone and a ride but I didn't know their full names n details n couldn't account for there where abouts when I was in the water. They may not pay up just cause they keys were used to take the car.
Car has over 80% damage.

Ask them if they can tell you the phone number for the ombudsman.

You'd hope the final word would be the result of the police investigation, I guess it's easier for them to say no and hope you go away than to prove a potential fraud. I have no reason not to believe you so fight the good fight. GO GET 'EM

You can dispute just about anything . . . proving you were not involved will be difficult as believe me the insurer has most likely made their mind up if they have disclosed that information to you. Hope it works out for ya mate, bad luck with the car but it could have been a whole lot worse (e.g carjacking or something). At least you're ok.

number one lesson to be learned from this tradgic situation is to lock your alarm keypad in the car when you goto the beach. hide it well. if someone grabs your key off the beach theyll be able to get in but the alarm/immobiliser will stop the situation from escelating out of hand

cheers mike

Um, wear board shorts that have a velcro or zip pocket, put your keys there?
