View Full Version : Thrashed SP23 sedan on weekend.
As topic says, took the sedan (much nicer than the hatch) out for a drive with the salesmen and he kept urging me to push it harder... nice bloke. Two clear standouts betwen SP23 and SP20...
1) Engine note...HEAVEN!! the SP23 sounds like a little alfa!
2) SP23 interior is ****E! Too euro and unco... the SP20 interior is simple, clean and the fake carbon fibre looks great. Don't get me started on the dodgy SP23 seats!
You can notice the torque difference between the two and the newer model feels a bit quicker too... the weight is similar too. 17" rims are handy. I've never driven the SP20 protege, so I can't really comment on the handling, but it was very stiff and not much body roll :)
Salesperson tried his hardest to book my car in for a valuation for a change-over... I said I'd sign there and then for 6k change, but he laughed at me... hehe.
That's my story about the test drive of the SP23 sedan.
Cheers,
Bill

hehe, when we took one for a drive, the guy hadned us the keys and said, "see you soon". Problem was, it was only a Sports Maxx, not the SP23.

I thought the seats in the SP20 seats were dodgy... The SP23 seats must be real dodgy
Got to sit in an SP23 at the motorshow over the weekend (As if a salesman is going to let a 17 year old rev head drive one :( )
Cant say i am a fan on the 'tunnel' gauges and the radio is built into the dash (same as the new falcoooon) which could make replacing the head unit fun.

Yeah i agree but then everything is dodgy compared to the seats that come in the BG SP :P

hmmm i nearly went and drove one today.... got bored at home... but then i just had a nap :p
U normally need to know someone that works there to take one out by urself!
Full hass isnt it! If they get the idea ur truly keen then u might get to! But who care's u can fully flog it with the sales guy in it just dont corner and brake that hard! They care about brakes and tyres not fuel! Im still waiting to drive a manual thats got a couple of thousand k's on it to get a better idea of what its really like! But my freind said no young people r buying them, all older people so they r all auto's! So that sucks!! Im over the new 3, bring out a new one! lol!!

ezin, its all dependant on your location, i've taken out heaps of cars by myself (new cars too) and your general attitude.....if you seem really keen the dealer will always insist on going with you...
in sydney its harder to get a drive by yourself, but is all good, its also to do with being young....
but anywayz if the dealer does coem with you drive how you want, there is no point restraining your driving, most dealers will say this too.... if your normally thrash cars, then why would you want to test drive it like miss daisy?? they do care about the consumables of the car, BUT this is a company expense that is there to be converted into sales

Actually, here at Gosford, if you want Auto, you can get one within a few weeks. Want manual? Try a couple of months (ATM the sales guy seemed to think about 3-4 for manual)!
