hey guys.

I'm selling my shortened stock shifter for my SP20. it's got a 12mm thread (stock knob thread is 10mm), but the stock knob can easily be modified (11mm drill does the trick).

it's actually shorter than the TWM 2nd gen shifter, but the throw is a bit longer.

$30 posted to you

email me : katsuro@tpg.com.au

that i am not sure.

i'll take a picture of it tonight beside the TWM shifter (so you can see the height comparison) and so you can see if it's the same design

as promised (well a little late) : picture of the shortened shifter (black) compaired to the twm.

you can see the height is shorter, but the arm under the ball is shorter as well. i guess you can say this is more of a looks shifter, but it is still a pretty short throw, esp compaired to the stock shifter.

twilightprotege

sweet nate! glad you like! quite a bit shorter isnt it!!!

the twm shifter by itself was around $200aud. with the kartboy bushings it was around $230aud. all depends on the value of the aussie dollar compaired to the us dollar

platypus
19-03-2004, 04:30 PM
damn US dollar.... comes to our level, and mods are cheaper.... but housing loans are more expensive..... grrr... i say adopt the big mac scale

oh don't worry about it, cosmo, i took my sweet time with it, so its yours!

btw do you have a wiring schematic for the BJ?? andy i tried ugly too...

btw cosmo, what lengthening?? you crazy, or you gonna go Mr. Bean style and drive on the roof in your couch??

platypus

damn it!! i just remembered there was a guy on pulsar.org.au who made a short shifter... he cut on oxy bearing friend to cut the top down, and lengthen the bottom... would of been good.... just a thought, i'm sure cosmo could do that, if not he could pick up an oxy for $25 :P

and what you talking about km outside a car? its friday, give us a break, we need explanations!!!

twilightprotege

james, i dont know of any places that have the wiring schematics online unfortunately. protege5.ugly.net is the only stuff we have.

you could try sweet talking a mazda dealer near you??? i was able to get the ecu pin outs from grand prix mazda by doing my usual "can you photocopy this this this and this for me please??? you'll find it here here here and here." hehehe

It all comes clear with beer.
If I lengthen the bit below the ball (minds out of the gutter) the stroke gets shorter while the top stays in the same predictable place.
I could always get out a ruler and take some measurements, work out the ratio and how it will change the throw. Hey it's Friday afternoon and I'd rather have a few beers than do math :P

Nate
19-03-2004, 05:19 PM
yeah mine is the same length below the ball, just lobbed off on the top, still makes for some fun driving on the cheap!!

Cosmo Dude

The BJ stick is a little different than the BA and possably the BG the top where the gear knob screws on and the stick are two seperate pieces jouned by a rubber sleave.

This thread is jast asking for the odd double-entendre

I'm happy with the location of the gear knob so I won't be shortening the top. I may need to buy a short shift kit for the Cosmo

Nate

yeah they are different but interchangable ... i think so anyway. Twilight had this on his BJ and it was a direct bolt on to the BG
