Hi all,
Would just like to introduce myself as a new member of the site...

My name is Danny, and as of next week I ( my wife ) will be the owner of an Astina... I have been a member of fordforums.com (ducks the incoming punches), and am about to purchase what I think might be a good buy from one of he sites mods..

It's a 1990 Astina, red in colour, 1.8L SOHC, 5 spd manual, with only 61000km (with books) on the clock!!!! Looks in absolutely magnificent condition, and got it for what I think is a great price ($6k)...

Anyway, am sure I will talk to you all again soon..

Thanks for the big welcome guys, I am rapt with the k's on this car, only catch is that I have to travel interstate (SA from VIC) to pick it up, not a BIG deal but not quite the norm.... Anyway, have flight booked on Thursday morning and will drive back the little beast Friday (9hr test drive!!!).

Seemed hard to believe about the k's but I have seen all of the books, and the seller has been on the forums as long as I have, so I confident it's not BS..

Are there many BG owners on the forums here?, as I am sure I wil have many q's (mod related) to ask in the coming months..

Hey welcome cuz...

Ford and Mazda have always been cousins in my books!

Many hours of driving pleasure await you, beyond the 9 hours from Adelaide.

Quite a bargain, and I'm sure Rob will be quite jealous as he has just bought himself a red one. So you and Rob (nick laser the amazer, we don't hold it against him.... much  ) will be doing your cars together. Friendly competition perhaps???

Anyway, best of luck, and of course http://www.kitty-ranch.net/kitty/welcome.gif

Well guys,
Picked it up on Thursday from SA and drove it back Friday morning... I can't believe the condition of this car!! It is immaculate... only issue I have is that when I drive over a sharp bump (reflector) on the road at speed it seems very harsh, but I will look into that (possibly shocks/overinflated tyres?).

I have read some posts in the forums complaining about the fuel consumption of the BG, well I certainly didn't share this experience, I refilled the tank at Mt Gambier, which was 477km later, and only spent $26 at $.88/l, so I had only used about 2/3 of a tank, that would put me pretty close to 700km from the tank with highway driving and a little squirt here and there!! Sounds OK to me...

Anyway, best $6000 I ever spent... :D

Dude, you scored a bargain and it sounds neat. Hopefully we'll organise another Melbourne meet soon so be sure to keep an eye on the Cruise page and we hope to see you there.
