Am new to here..........and have a certain member (rupe's........hey that pic in your avatar looks familiar :p *) trying to convince me l should get an astina as my dailey driver.
Have seen a V6 up sale.....and wanting to know what sort of things l should look for on it?? *common faults, wear in certain places, etc.....
as the car will only be taken to a train station, shops, etc.....not looking into modifying it much, probably just lower, zorst, CAI and tinted windows.........oh and a good alarm to keep thieving mitts off it!!
thanks!!

spose there isn't really much to look for, cuz they were so well made! but get one wiv low ks and have a few test drives of a few before you buy. some need a little tuning from lack of REAL use.[/color:post_uid0]

From a couple of people, one a mechanic (who advised when we were looking for a new car) and the other a freind who used to work at the local Mazda, there is not that much that goes wrong. *Just do all the usual checks for rust, ownership (REVS) and the NRMA inspection.
I have one small problem though, the caliper pins are causing a knocking noise as I brake and turn the wheel (the more you turn the wheel, it keeps on knockin'). *Not dangerous (so I've been told), but expensive to repair. *You won't notice it on test drives, as they can lubricate the pins so you can't hear anything. *
Oh, yeah, Astina's kick arse!
Edit:- Oh, yeah, the ex-mazda mechanic said that you MUST do an oil change at LEAST every 10,000 (preferably 5,000 or 6 months) to keep everything working correctly. Apparantly they don't like being neglected.[/color:post_uid0]

Well, the other guys have said it all really [although my capilers just seems to make the initial clunk noise, not a constant knocking], and I can't really add anything except for....

Yep, even though the knocking is annoying, you get used to it cause the car is just so much fun to drive.[/color:post_uid14]
