Seen this on another forum and it's a good laugh and a good warning to others.
Post your most regretted or worst or most useless mod.

I'll start, in car neons.
$18 not well spent. 7 hours hanging upside down off the steering wheel not well spent (before I knew how to take apart dash).
I never use them, and I bought the ugliest switch to mount on my dashboard.
Also how's this:
"hi I'm new to forums just bought my car and installed neons"
You guys all chuckled didn't you... :p

Anyone wanna post me a blanking plate so I can remove them?

Worst mod I have ever done was fit a cannon to my car. YUCK. Ban the cannon.
Show me a good sounding cannon and I will show you someone who is deaf or at least tone deaf.
If you own a cannon please have consideration for your passengers/neighbours and supply them with ear plugs.
Most regretted mod was buying a Hyundai Excel.
Biggest POS ever made, they should be made illegal or destroyed at the end of their warranty as they are only good for 5 years or 100,000 km which ever comes first.

Oh hang on got another, the "trolley mod", you know that one where someone runs a shopping trolley into the front of your car and leaves a lovely grating pattern then buggers off? Regretting installing that...

mines probably the same as mikey, install neons in the back of my car so they dance with the sub, never really used them while driving, cept onces down a back street and everyone that saw me slammed on the brakes cause they were blue :/. best part was going camping and i had them on at night with the music playing from my car.

phil i still like the sound of my cannon :)

Painting various bits on this current mod. Namely the rotors. They look like a half assed effort even though I did it as nest as possible sigh. Bake them first is the way to go. :(

Losing the keys and damaging the drivers door seal isn't recommended.

Back when I had my XR6 falcon, I chucked a baby cam in an already weak motor. I got extra fuel consumption and still couldn't beat a stock 6-cyl falcon of the same series.

Back on my first car, a Mitsubishi Lancer, the worst mod was neons.

Then on my first Astina, "racing" pedal kit, steering wheel, "racing" gear knob and blue leather shifter surround. >.< haha.

Never again.

I think the only mods that haven't had any problems that I've done so far are the strut brace and the SRI..

the one that was entirely my fault though was the LED's for the footwell/boot that I tried (and failed miserably) to do last weekend

Ha neons were the first mod to my car back in 2000. Still sorta miss them, especially as new cars have the same sort of footwell lighting these days.

Most regretted mod? Putting my current oval tip on the standard muffler when it was still NA. Made it sound horrible!

Haha I remember this Marc :)
The one that took the cake for me was making the tail lights... Poor poor execution and lack of tools lol. In hinesite, I could have done SO much more with those lights lol
Oh well

13 inch steering wheel on the ol' FA4. Couldn't see the speedo from 40 to 120 km/h without ducking my head.

Only regret so far is installing LED lighting behind my HVAC controls, they last about 2 weeks before the vibrations from the sub kill them. Got a pack of about 50 so I just keep swapping them out :p

Dodgy shift knob in the astina. Was great for the first couple of months then got loose and would come off, twist etc. The 500g Blox knob in the 3k is the sexiest I've ever found and threads down like a stocko. Wish I'd done the same in the astina.

I HAVE neons in the astina. they're in the footwells disconnected due to a dodgy wire. Might fix them some day. They went on with the doors and faded with the lights

Meh, it was back when i was on Ps so looking at the speedo wasn't a key issue. If I was passing other people I was going too fast and if they were passing me I was going too slow. If the car was shaking violently that was 140km/h and that only lasted untill 150km/h wher it was as smooth as glass untill it topped out at 160km/h which just happened to correspond with the 6000rpm redline :D

This will hurt you - EVERYTHING.

Yep now I'm thinking I want soft luxury thing to pamper my ass and automatic just simple. ALL GONE.

Neons I did that to the 4 12's I had but once I tossed that. I guess thats my biggest mistake because everything else is easy to fix. but - putting 7X10's into the shelf in the rear of thE Mx6 dumb. Still got them but they are stuffed from sun damage.

every other car was already on the way out.

but to think if I left it stock original would be easier to care and keep now.

of course my biggest regreat was selling a stock S2 Rx-7.

I installed a cat at 100km/hr through my front bumper while taking my daughter to her surprize birthday party."milfys' dead now guys" the farmer said to his kids while i removed bits of it from underneath the car. Surprize; my 5 year old was not so nonchalant about it thats for sure! Got a silver type r bar from rupeWrecht out of it though.

when i swapped my engines, we notice the alternator was full of bird feathers. i was like "WTF?" it is between the block and firewall.

---

load exhaust, it has a purpose, but it is annoying.

Probably my most annoying mod is the original turbo conversion, the wanker who done it did such a great job i had to replace everything he touched, replace parts that were never put on the car and still have outstanding work and damage on the car.

I installed a set of 18" momo sport wheels which a former member of these forums neglected to inform me were unroadworthy and advertised as near new. Pretty steep learning curve from then on!
