most of you will be saying 'about time' as this job has been on the cards for 6 months lol. For those that dont know these doorhandles are out of the 1.8 BJ astina and are definetley not made togo into the BA. Custom mounts and alot of hacking up of the rear section of these doorhandles is required. This one alone took me about 2 hours to fit! im going to spray the grey bit black to match the rest of the car too

anyway enjoy.

I'm guessing that you did this to lose the actual tab that is the door locking device?

With filled in external key holes and no locking tabs are you going to be able to get in or out of your car if the central locking plays up?

Chrome handle looks nice though..

hehe nah one external key hole is now uncovered and im working my way around the central locking problem that these doorhandles have created. The front ones are proving an absolute b**ch to fit. Have thought about it some more and will have a solution tomorrow!

Why didnt you just pull your olds one apart, get the handle chromed and paint the backing?

explored that option and it would have been upwards of $70 per handle with the extreme likeleyhood of the existing handles being blown apart with the preperation process needed to make the handles entireley smooth. so the BJ option was the way togo

dan, what was the name of the place?? its up near your place off dorset rd

Hey mike,

that looks great,

off that topic i just have one question, did you retrim your door trim with something else? if so how did you do it?

yeah thats leather in those doors! did it myself. sourced some leather from a place in frankston VIC for about $40. striped my doors of all electrical appliances. the fabric which usually sits in there will peel strait off. simply use the bits of fabric as templates and cut out the shape u want + 3 or 4mm extra around the edges as you are using thicker material.

to bond i used selastic as reccomended by the guy i bought the leather off. im thinking about adding some bead liner around the edges to finish them off(possibly in the same color grey as the doorhandle) but thats another weekend!

i'd love to see a set up like the Ford Mondeo... that was really noice

the locks were apart of the original handles

lock the doors? push them in!! unlock them? pull out to flush... open the door? pull out the rest of the way (like normal!!)

then just clean up the original locks, so they are hidden holes!!
