pretty well, so it goes from a down hill gradient to flat again. it's hard to explain..

Poor Ben...:p haha jokes! Sucks when such factors prevent you from lowering the car.
The end of my driveway gradually rises up (before the curb) and gets to a point where its just a little higher than an average speed bump, then drops down to street level. Now my car is friggin high off the ground, yet it still manages to scrape; not heaps but enough. I'm still lowering my car though, it'll just be parked on the road for now...

Zenki
21-05-2012, 12:43 AM
Some driveways are ridiculously high, the house that I rented before, I scraped my front bar every time I go in just a little bit faster than normal (stock height) because the street was pretty busy during peak hour and I didn't want to slow down traffic behind me so I can slowly get in the driveway :D

smurfy

I liked our old driveway better, was flat as a pankake all the way through... Then the council decided to make a footpath, ripped up the end of the old driveway and now we have this one. Stupid council!

And thanks for the info Ben! I'm keeping an eye out for similar rims, but no luck so far :(

Not for all springs IIRC. Some springs are wagon/sedan only but I may be mistaken!

Well not only but using one vs the other makes the car look different.

so, i received my grille this morning, got home from school to see if it fits, before i paint it.
and it doesn't, what do i have to do to make an Ecarboy grille fit?
it's like buldged on one side so it won't fit in

xeon8
24-05-2012, 01:28 PM
Im pretty sure that theyre fibreglass, and if it is you could probably (easily) modify it to fit with a bit of spare time and the motivation :)

Also was the grille for a 1.6/1.8 or an SP20?

Well in that case, as I mentioned you can manipulate the shape of the grille easily as its fibreglass; test fit the grille and mark the spots on the grille that are causing the grille not to fit properly. It might just be a case of sanding a few millimetres off each side of the grille, and if something goes wrong (hopefully shouldnt), as its fibreglass, you can go down to your local supercrap (supercheap), repco or autobarn and pick up some fibreglass filler and reshape the grille.

Just my 2c worth though :)

EDIT: If its for an SP20, modification is required as the 1.6/1.8 grille shape is different to the SP20

The ecarboy is only for the BJII, not the SP20. You will notice at the bottom of the grille that the BJII Grille comes to a different angle, see phildoughs photo of a replica AutoExe grille with a BJII bumper:

it was fairly easy, needed a notch in the top to fit around the horn bracket, and the drivers side needed to be filed down to fit properly, i'll re-do it one dy so it fits in nicer but at the moment, im happy

I was lucky I took a photo of it assembled using the alignment tool and only thought about which way it needed to go after bolting the entire box.worth of bolts on. So do that first haha. What sort of paint did you use ben? Im looking at doing mine on the weekend, just dont want anything glossy (so not to blind myself while driving:p)

Marc I did mine in 3m heat proof matte black, with 3m heatproof clear over the top.
That's just what I had laying around... Turned out perfectly! Looks exactly like stock... But like new of the showroom

Should be a pic in my build thread back a few pages.
They clear the stock 16's by a few mm. Plenty of room!

My suspension setup is not the greatest... I would prefer some tokico shocks along with the autoexe bracing kit. But bang for buck wise and with daily ride comfort I am pretty damn happy! Lol

Should come up with andy in a couple of weekends time.

None of those :o

They just said Mazda I think. Look similar to the link.

Hate the look of the words '323 ASTINA' it's long and not proportional and annoys me.
And the 'protege 5' ... Well I'm not going to have any badging in my car at all... And yeah... Thought 'Mazda' was cleaner... Simpler, shorter and proportional

the EDM BJ/GF calipers never have problems like the SP20 calipers.... they do not have the stupid allen adjustment screw... it is a very conventional piston design where you turn the piston to retract it

the dust shield on the SP20 does not have to be trimmed either as it's already designed for the EDM 280mm discs... in other words, using the EDM calipers/pads/discs are a straight up no hassle upgrade... don't even have to replace the cables either!

After using multiple brands of tyres and fitting almost every brand for good life the first thing you need is a good wheel alignment then look for the tyres toyo teos are a good wearing tyre if u go with proxies4 i will tell u they will wear quicker it is a much softer tyre so i would rrcomend toyo teos falken 512 and hancook ventas

Done 35000K's on the Evo with 220Kw behind it.
Gets driven fairly hard and has seen 2 track days.
Still has tread left. Probably about 10000k's until its at the wear indicator.
