After looking under the bum of the car, i have noticed my rear left caliper is leaking some fluid. Can anyone tell me if this is an inherent problem, or exactly what part / seal has let go, as im happy to do the work myself, i just wanna know what part to buy!

the fluid is coming out of the inlet where the brake hose connects to the caliper.

Thanks

i expect that the brake hose connects onto a nipple there. maybe the hose has just come a bit loose, or the worse option is a crack in the nipple.

try pushing the hose on better if it has started to come loose.
is there a hose clamp holding the hose in place ? maybe just tighten it, or add one there to hold the hose on better.

if it doesnt work then its possible the hose or the nipple has cracked. ur option then would be to replace the broken bit. not sure on part numbers but a wrecker would be the cheaper option.

avoid removing the hose in the process if u can, as you will need to bleed the air out if u let any in.

When it comes to brake lines I'd recomend a visit to a brake shop unless it's just tightening the coupling, but even then you should be using the right tool.

A flare nut spanner slips over the tube but holds the nut more securely than an open ended spanner.

whats going on with your rear end?

i was thinking loose nipple, try and grab a spanner on it, it doesn't need to be very tight...

are you having problems braking? does the car pull up straight? find a nice empty road, brake nicely, but don't grip the wheel, let it loose, unless you have to steer

you may also want to check when it leaks.... jump under the car, and get someone else to jam the brake pedal watch for a leak...

hey all, i presume the nipples have a seal on them, pbr probably sell new ones....

keevrs, can you bleed brakes?

no problem bleeding the brakes.
just wanted to spark some ideas.

under heavy / moderate braking the car pulls up fine.no probs there.
will get someone to pump the pedal and ill check for a leak.

bugger it, im going to brakes plus on the way home tonight.

thanks guys.
